Space Perspective: the "space" travel Neptune balloon

Transport and new transport: energy, pollution, engine innovations, concept car, hybrid vehicles, prototypes, pollution control, emission standards, tax. not individual transport modes: transport, organization, carsharing or carpooling. Transport without or with less oil.

Space Perspective: the "space" travel Neptune balloon

by Christophe » 25/06/20, 13:28

Certainly interesting from an energy point of view * compared to other "high altitude" solutions but ... how do we go down and where above all? : Mrgreen:

A six-hour round trip to observe the Earth from "near-space" is what Space Perspective, an American space tourism start-up, will offer. His spaceship, called Neptune, designed to carry eight passengers in addition to the pilot, will soon be in the starting blocks. The price ? No official press release for the moment, but according to the first statements of the leaders, it would cost almost $ 125 for this unforgettable trip.

The recent return of manned space flights from American soil has apparently aroused growing interest in space travel. The founder of Space Perspective, Taber MacCallum, can only rejoice and is pleased to "allow people to discover the inspiring perspective of our planet from space, for the good of all".

* still, it is necessary to make the global assessment of each flight and helium is an increasingly rare gas ...

Ah no it will be H2 (amazing that this is allowed ... but so much the better it is greener!)

The ball, the size of a football field, will be filled with hydrogen. Neptune will take its passengers, baptized Explorers, about 30 kilometers above sea level - more than twice as high as commercial planes -, from where they can enjoy a breathtaking view of our planet; the spacecraft will also carry various payloads for scientific use. Space Perspective promises that the experience will be "as simple as getting on a plane."

30 km altitude is not at all what we see on the video or the images of the article, it is much higher ... : Shock:

Not sure. Felix Baumgartner's jump 38 km above sea level:

The capsule was carried by an inflated H2 balloon.

Ah yes just, sorry I was convinced that it was 100 km (confusion with the feet ...)

The SR-71 could climb to 26 m ... suddenly it is also (almost) in space !! Anyway, 000 m are still missing from Felix!

But all this does not answer the question of the descent !! : Mrgreen:
