Neuralink: Brain Machine Interface VS Handicaps, (again) a (crazy) project by Elon Musk!

There are still billionaires who serve humanity more than others ... for R&D we can only salute Elon Musk! In Fine where humanity will lead, I have no idea and that's another debate ...

Elon Musk promises (functional) demonstration of Neuralink this Friday

A chip in the brain

Neuralink, led by Jared Birchall, is a neurotechnology company specializing in the development of a brain-machine interface (ICM) designed to connect humans to computers through a tiny brain chip implant.

During the creation of the project, and on several occasions since, Elon Musk evoked his vision according to which it is necessary for humans to maintain an intellectual advance over artificial intelligence. He therefore sees Neuralink as a tool that will achieve this goal. The billionaire has since evoked other projects, less far-fetched, now considering treating brain damage as the “top priority” of the company.

Good summary of the character ...

Except that it is above all its thousands of employees who work to make "its" success ...: Cheesy: : Cheesy: : Cheesy:

PayPal is him. Tesla, it's him. SpaceX, it's him. The Hyperloop is him again. The birth of cyborgs, these science fiction characters grafted with mechanical or electronic implants, it may also be, but not in a century, in the near future. Elon Musk, the man with 80 billion dollars, relies on renewable energies to save the planet, on space exploration to install human colonies on Mars and on Gertrude, his guinea pig with a chip connected to the brain to save man from what could represent for him the greatest danger: the power of artificial intelligence. All his companies, all his fortune come to serve his stated ambition: to save the world and humanity.

But who is he? A megalomaniac? A wacky? A brilliant visionary? A mad scientist? His vision of the apocalyptic world and his survivalist approach make this entrepreneur an unclassifiable character. Its spectacular advances nail the beak to the jealous and sarcastic. The insolent success of Tesla on the stock market, that of its Crew Dragon manned space flight, its orbiting of 600 satellites or its experiments in neuroscience are all answers given to its detractors. It acts, it deploys, it advances with concrete, numerous and spectacular achievements. It goes fast, very fast, perhaps too fast for our time and takes everyone by surprise.

With his company Neuralink and his brain implant, the billionaire frees himself from all limits, he pushes back borders in an area that is absolutely taboo, that of the human brain combined with the power of the machine. More concerned with the progress of his program than with ethical questions, Elon Musk is both fascinating and terrifying. He looks like an extra-terrestrial.

yeah ... apart from paypal which naturally accompanied the internet, which obviously needed a secure online payment method, none of Musk's other projects has concerned a significant fraction of humanity until then: nothing comparable with the inventions of the XNUMXth century which quickly revolutionized the way of life (lighting, cars, telephones, planes, etc.)

Except that we are no longer in the XNUMXth century !!

With SpaceX and its Dragon ships, it still does much better than NASA currently eh! There is a strong probability that it is he who takes down not the Moon but Mars!

Isn't that advancing humanity?

Even if obviously I would prefer these millions of human hours to be used to save the Earth rather than to conquer space ... but hey ecology is less hard on shareholders than space apparently!

Tesla are the best electric cars in the world ... by far ... they greatly advance the R&D in batteries, see this week's topic again.

Isn't that advancing humanity?

Then there are projects in which I believe much less like the Hyperloop ...

Be careful, too, we only see the emerged part of Elon! On a visible project, he certainly has 5 or 6 invisible ones ...

since nasa has not done anything for 10 years, it's not hard. And the conquest of space is one of the "prestige" things that has no real direct impact on everyday life (even if at the time of the conquest of the Moon it was able to boost research, this era is far away). The only thing really useful in space right now are communications satellites, and we didn't wait for Musk to launch them (and he's not the only one who wants to launch thousands of them).

There is a strong probability that it is he who takes down not the Moon but Mars!

Isn't that advancing humanity?

I will not give a "high probability" that we go to Mars, a lot of problems are not solved, and in my opinion the world will start to decline before they can be solved.

Isn't that advancing humanity?

For the moment, it remains a luxury of the rich, and the impact on the consumption of fossils is strictly immeasurable. a virus is much more efficient, obviously ...

Not true, the model 3 arrives in Europe at 35 € it seems to me ...

The price of a VW Golf with a few options ...

€ 49600 for the "low-end" version, excluding options.

Ah damn the margin of importers and dealers has gone through this!

Too bad ... but we are still in the acceptable ... Many German thermal sedans are more expensive ...

the more expensive German thermal sedans are also luxuries of the rich, especially on a global scale.

and if not, what exactly does this Neuralink do? because 'reading' the electrical activity of the brain is one thing, 'storing' memories or even increasing higher intellectual capacities is totally different, and I very much doubt that we have figured out how to interface neurons massively parallel physicochemical with a microprocessor that operates on completely different bases!
