VTTae Decathlon Rockrider 6.0 transformed into electric: battery box printed in 3D

by Christophe » 03/05/21, 17:53

For its 3rd season, I gave my VTTbator a little gift: a old Rockrider 6.0 electric mountain bike converted to Mad Max sauce

I was fed up with the battery bag, ugly and awkward to ride ...

Image

So I modeled and printed a made-to-measure box ... when I say made-to-measure it is really made-to-measure ... to the nearest mm! : Cheesy:

Seriously, Rockrider 6.0 frame crap !! Already the low beam of the triangle is neither an oval nor a round it is an oval with variable geometry pfff jte swear these decatlhon engineers !! : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:

Here is the modeling:

It is fixed with straps (25 mm wide max, clamps straps included on the part) but can also be fixed on the support of the bottle.

Anyone know if this is the standard center distance of the gourd attachments? I have 63 mm but considering the weight of the batteries I preferred to strap too!

There is a "smiley style" ventilation on the back and I left the raft it makes a kind of grid that will stop the big projections ... I will still avoid the big puddles! : Lol: : Lol: : Lol:

Next step ... the regulator box which is doing a great job now! : Cheesy:

Ah he also had hydraulic brakes ... given the 34 kg of the beast ... it's not luxury! : Cheesy:

ps: the print quality is average and it is intended: I did not want to spend 30 hours printing this part! I will share it on thingiverse

And are you sure it won't get in the way of pedaling? It seems to me that it is "a bit" wide.

Do you take me for a fool? It's borderline insulting there ...

Look at the penultimate photo and you will understand that there are just a few mm of play! That's why I took it!

So unless your feet are wider than your pedals ... it's okay! : Mrgreen:

Fins are for swimming, not for pedaling eh Guy!

And you, did you take me for a pelican? It's not the feet that I thought, but the knees and calves.

Hehehe ...

No worries ... my ankles are not swollen enough and the knees are comfortable ... with the bag it was painful at times on the thighs on the other hand ... had to be removed : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:

So if it ventilated my parts well, the SCx deteriorated! : Lol:

Wao ... 34 kg ... : Shock:
Mine is heavy too, but still not that much.
How do you explain such a mass? Are these the welded parts that you added to it?

Yes I was surprised too. But have you ever weighed yours? You may be surprised ... I think he feels the 30 kg ...

The welded fork and frame additions must weigh 2 to 2.5 kg grand max ... visibly.
The new shocks weigh nothing at all (1/4 of the original one!)
The battery 4.8 kg with the box, weighed yesterday.
The motor and the rear wheel are 8-10 kg from memory ... (yes it's heavy)

So :
original base: 17 kg (verified at the moment)
battery motor controller bags and cables: 14-15 kg
miscellaneous and addition: 2-3 kg

The account is good ! : Cheesy:

Indeed, I will have to put it on the scales, out of curiosity ... :)
