I have just finished the realization of my second quasi-automatic solar panel for my camper van imitating the ALDEN PHOENIX at 2500 € ...
it must be oriented towards the EAST in the morning and fold it up in the evening (risk of wind ...)
we need to recover by LEBONCOIN or a camping car dealership a camping car TV parabolic antenna turret for around 100 €,
we will buy a solar tracer on ALIEXPRESS or EBAY for less than 100 €, 5 5-pin 12v DC relays, 19x 0.5 mm2 multicore cable to connect the turret to the pilot box in the motorhome, 4 mini limit switches to stop the motors in NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST.
the relays serve as motor power control to relieve the low power electronics 2 A max ...
Once the cabling is done, position a solar panel on the turret and the solar collector on the panel, the solar tracer and energy cables will pass through cable glands to reach the pilot box.
it is fixed to the roof with SIKAFLEX.
the pilot unit is supplied with 12 V and the solar energy produced is returned to the batteries by the solar charger.
for 250 to 300 € you have an improved energy production of 30/100 minimum / a flat panel on the roof.
at your disposal for realization ...

Re: Automatic solar panel for motorhome
Hello.
here is the diagram of my first solar tracker for motorhome.
there is only the content of the plotter in the turret and on the solar panel ... the control box is missing to lift and retract the PS at the start and end of the day, placed in the cell.
I would make a clean diagram of the second follower solar panel that I just put in place.
of course if it interests someone ...
greetings

Re: Automatic solar panel for motorhome
Well done, great work for a reasonable cost.
So it's 30% saved but on what power of PV? 30W to 50W? It doesn't look very big.
On the parents' camper van I put a 90W flat but the vehicle is stored under a canopy so it's useless.
I still have a 90w at home that I intend to use directly with a pump on my source under the house just to raise the water higher than my terrace without taking care of anything

RE.
my first panel was an 80 W.
the new one is 100w, I chose it semi flexible of 2 kg and I made an aluminum frame, the assembled unit weighs 5 kg instead of 10 kg which relieves the engines especially the elevation.
I attach the diagram of my new PS.
good achievement

Re: Automatic solar panel for motorhome
Isn't it more economical and easier to simply add panels?
300W panels are around 100 €

I am installing a solar kit on an old 670 W fire engine flat on the roof for 203 €. We should lose 20% compared to an oriented panel, but the installation is easier. I had to solder the connectors of the pre-wired cables, because the crimping is not reliable.
