Air intake in my water pump

by nonodecodo » 08/07/08, 18:20

Hello
I am new to this forum,
My problem: I have a multicellular surface water pump, and I pump water into a 6/7 m deep well.
In the suction pipe I see bubbles forming, coming from below, and the sprinklers sputter. When I stop the pump I always have to re-prime it, and I don't see where there could be an air intake.
Thank you for your possible answers

Um jraconte can be a stupidity but it looks like the cavitation of a dissolved gas on the suction side? In this case there is not much you can do except put another submerged pump ... or change the pump with a pump that will not disarm ...

What surprises me is that it happens to disarm the pump precisely. I have a multicell guinard and a little water is enough for it to reboot (so the air is not very hard).

Besides, the multicellular surface pumps are mostly self-priming ...

Hello nonodecodo

Your pipe going down to 6/7 m:
- it is in good condition or completely puffed up by rust?
- possibly loosened at a connection?
- split (pvc) by frost (pvc)?
- with check valve at the top or bottom?
- Is the water level almost flush with the end of the hose?
- The pump is "dripping" at the level of the drive shaft?

Maybe I am pumping Perrier spring water? I live 2km from this source :D
My pump is also a multicellular Guinard.
The suction hose has just been changed, no check valve but the strainer seems to be working well, the water level is one meter above the strainer
No visible water leaks
Indeed it is weird that it does not re-prime itself, or if it re-starts it is after a very long time of starting the pump

What is a very long time for you?
30 seconds or 5 minutes?

For the "gaseous" source at pas, have you already tasted the water?

What is it for?

Hello
My problem: I have a multicellular surface water pump, and I pump water into a 6/7 m deep well.

What is a multistage pump?
a submerged pump with several turbine stages?
at what level is the pump placed? , submerged or at the top of the well?

A submerged pump does not prime

A pump which must siphon a 7 meters of hollow it is more complicated, the least air intake and it defuses

A simple method to check the tightness of the foot valve system, etc., filled with water from above and check if the level drops in the duct.
This will take more details on your installation so that we give you some advice.
