Leakage surface pump

by Aa85 » 06/12/17, 02:08

Hello everyone ;)
My dad has a surface pump with a booster.
But a few days ago the latter no longer pumped water.
Upon closer inspection he realized that each time he added water to the pump body the water flowed between the pump body and the motor.

I would like to know if someone can help me with this problem?
Indeed I would prefer before disassembling it to have your advice.
What do you think is the problem here?

Thanking you in advance.

It is a problem of joint or axis joint ... the leak occurs at stop or when the pump rises in pressure?

I had a similar problem a few years ago to read here: failure-payday-repair / multi-pump-guinard-leakage-on-the-platinum-t3473.html

And do research on forums...

Hello,
I have actually read posts that look like my problem.
Not wishing to do anything stupid before dismantling it, I prefer to have feedback.

As the pump no longer sucked water, and the body was empty, I filled the tank and it was then that I realized the problem. The water I pour flows between the body and the pump motor (the lower part).
Thanks again.

So if it leaks without pressure it is most likely simply a dead seal ... certainly an O-ring which seals between the motor plate and the pump body ...

Take it down and send some pictures ...

80% chance of the packing (dynamic seal between the shaft and the pump body)
Unless it's a branded pump, good luck finding a spare! generally it is easier to completely change the pump.

This is what I had as a leak on mine ... but it only leaked when it increased in pressure ...

I could change it for a few euros because it was standard (at least on mine)

Hello,
I come back to an old discussion.
I have the same problem, with leakage.
I bought this pump second hand so I have doubts with the dealer.
I disassembled my pump, I have a seal that seems to be a bit damaged but I found an o-ring to replace it.
Just before reassembling everything is it normal that the middle turbine is different and `` empty '' compared to the 4 others.
I think this is normal considering the spacers so different.
And second question is the priming disc at the bottom of the stainless steel body at a precise position? Or is it spinning inside? It gets stuck a bit I think it needs to be given a shot of white vinegar too.
Thank you in advance, I hope I was clear in my questions.
Good night

Hello,
It is true that I '' a little '' forgot a few details : Cheesy: .
My pump is a 40 / 50M stainless steel DAB
For the photo I made that the one for the mechanical seal.
I anticipated and ordered a new garnish that will not hurt him.
Thank you in advance for your help.
