What material for a carbon fiber mold (epoxy / polyester resin)?

by Christophe » 13/09/19, 10:42

Has anyone ever worked with fiberglass or carbon here?

Indeed, I need to make a small mold to make a piece of carbon fiber. I am at the very beginning of this project so I am inquiring.

I did some research on the internet but I can not find much information on compatible materials to make the mold.

Indeed, several chemicals are to be placed on the mold and I am afraid that some may melt, damage or prematurely wear some mold materials. I have the opportunity to make a polyurethane resin, where my fears ...

The tutorials that we find always use the original part as a mold, which is not my case since I have to make the mold ...

It's a bit more complicated than I thought given the number of layers of "chemicals" to add:

Why not in staff? It's easy to model, resistant and chemically neutral ... and inexpensive!
