Wind pump

by Pinus » 10/07/08, 21:07

Good evening everyone.

Do you know where you can get a wind pump for a low price, as we can still see the remains here and there at the site of old gardens, at my home often converted into vines (that should change soon). It is a great way to pump water I think, the mechanical energy of the wind directly induced in linear mechanics to pump water. Without going through electricity or hydrocarbons. In short, I started on an apology but that is not the subject.

I started a garden in a place where there is a reserve of underground water, and I would like to pump this water with the wind, as it was done a few decades ago in the same place (there remains a wheel belonging to this wind turbine but the rest no longer exists).

Not having the time or the courage to build one, I would like to know where it is possible to get one at a lower cost. Either new at less than 1500 euros (price I found on the net), or old even to repair.

Here, if you have a good plan, or some solution to bring me, I thank you in advance.

If the answer is already on the forum and that I did not look well, I apologize. You can turn this subject, I would understand but direct me before! :D

Hi dumpling.
Indeed, 1500 euros is not very expensive, but hey, you never know, it costs nothing to look for cheaper :D I am young and penniless : Lol:

Here is the site that offers it:
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/energies-nouvelles-entreprises/ch14-1.htm

I did not dig too much, just to get an idea of the prices.

This one taken last year has just been replaced by a new one, at what price, that, I don't have a clue, but apparently more profitable than the tank behind the tractor ... well, it's not than a guess.

no I said: at this price, 1500 €, a nuclear electric pump is cheaper!

it is better to build it yourself.

valdes pump

by oli 80 » 11/01/09, 14:32

hello, here is a link on a pump that works with a wind turbine http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompe_Vald%C3%A8s but hey it seems more difficult to achieve, we must see if we can not buy this type of pump

here is a video of a pump whose configuration seems to be of a valdes pump, this one is powered by a water mill, but can also be operated by wind turbine http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=D9jRM7N4K ... re=related

The simplest is to make a piston pump with a few rigid plastic tubes. I'm in the process of making one. I test it and send you the plans if you want (and if it works).
I have also seen that some have used a garden sprayer pump system.

Otherwise there are old piston pumps (ex. Brand deloule pump) that you can find on used equipment sites. I found one for 40 euros (see photo) which works very well and which is very simple to mechanically connect to a wind turbine.

I also made a small wind turbine (about 1 m in diameter with 5 rigid plastic blades) which I fixed on a windsurf mast. It runs very well and I will also try to drive the deloule pump with it.

If you want pictures, I'll take them tomorrow.

double piston pump

by oli 80 » 15/01/09, 13:57

hello, here is an animation of a pump which could also be activated by a wind turbine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_U-ZCOs ... re=related or there are simple positive displacement pumps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koLQZxJj ... re=related of course in the 2 nd video, these are accordion pumps that are easy to make with dryer pipes, or pipes for expandable water of the same type

Here is a link on an old type of standpipe, some are lever-operated like the old farm hand pump, others just have a push button, because they are connected to running water, it's called a standpipe and fire, they are equipped with a connection for firefighters, and there are these "rotating hats" terminal which I give you the link http://belcikowski.org/ladormeuseblogue/?p=922
this type of pump could also be activated by a wind turbine, because it is easy to activate no need for force, you push the crank a little and it turns all alone for a few seconds

this project was carried out by students from a high school

here is another model that looks like this pump
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skuIPEeQ ... re=related

and here is a wind system but does not seem to be a wind turbine

this valdes pump does not inspire me confidence ...

I'm not afraid of the wooden mechanism, I did too, but what idea to lower the rotational movement to the bottom of the well?

it is so much easier to put the crankshaft on top of the wind turbine and only put the piston at the bottom of the well

putting the piston on the surface is only possible if the water is less than 8m deep
