Without wanting to deny climate change, it seems that these fires result from uncontrolled eco-clouds ...
http://www.lecourrierderussie.com/2015/ ... khakassie/
According to the local branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MSU), the fires were started by locals wanting to burn grass, when the weather was dry and very windy. Russian farmers are used to burning dry grass at the end of winter in order to clean their fields.

it is not the first time that this agricultural practice has resulted in disasters.

Siberia: a dangerous global warming

August 03, 2016

Melting ice has awakened a deadly bacteria that contaminated the entire village. A boy of 12 years died.

2400 reindeer were found dead on tens of kilometers they were poisoned by a toxic substance, anthrax, who escaped from the ground, close teepees reindeer herders. In the Yamal Peninsula, near the Arctic Circle in Russia, the ground never thaws principle. It contains rendered inactive disease strains cold for centuries.

+ 7 degree in three years

But this summer, he made here over 35 degrees. The top layer of the tundra is melting. The nomads who live here are forced to leave. In the regional hospital, families are placed under observation, a child of 12 years died and doctors admit their powerlessness. Disease recur, because Siberia is changing profoundly. Russia now faces the very real consequences of global warming. Siberia is the same region that is warming in the most spectacular way : The average temperature has increased by seven degrees in three years.

Anthrax escapes from Siberian soil, killing one

By Curb iconCécile Thibert - the 03 / 08 / 2016

Warmer temperatures led to the awakening of the deadly bacteria, present in the soil frozen since 75 years.

Such an event had not been reported since 1941: anthrax, or anthrax, caused the death of a child and contaminated 21 Yamalo-Nenets people, an autonomous district of Russian North Grand, reported Tuesday local authorities.

Caused by the bacterium Bacillus anthracis, anthrax can occur in three forms: cutaneous, pulmonary or intestinal. 12 the boy, who belonged to a family of reindeer herders, died Saturday of intestinal form, characterized by fever, stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting. It seems to have been infected after eating reindeer meat contaminated with the deadly bacteria. If the infection is supported in time, it can be treated with antibiotics. Two-thirds of 20 those infected contracted the skin form of the disease, easier to process, while six patients are like the boy who died, affected by the intestinal form, the most serious.

high temperatures

According to authorities, the epidemic was triggered by climate change. Last month, the region has known effects of abnormally high temperatures of around 35 degrees against 17 usually in the same season. Therefore permafrost (or permafros), a layer of soil whose temperature is normally kept below 0 ° C, melted, releasing the frozen bacteria form spores for decades. Spores are phase bacteria lifecycle that allows them to survive for decades in an unfavorable environment, both in the ground as wool or the infected animal hair.

Anthrax primarily affects animals but also reached the man. In total, more than 2300 reindeer died, probably after eating infected plants. The transmission of human to animal can be done in various ways: through direct contact with the skin, by inhalation of spores or ingestion of undercooked contaminated meat. There is however no documented cases of human to human transmission. All those infected are from a nomadic tribe of Yamalo-Nenets, a region on 2000 kilometers northeast of Moscow. According to the Siberian Times, 90 people were hospitalized preventively, including 54 children to pass additional examinations in Salekhard, the capital of the district.

Quarantine

The region, with an area greater than that of France, was placed in quarantine. District Governor Natalya Khlopunova said that all the reindeer in this area have now been vaccinated and that the deaths have stopped. "The vast majority of the nomads from the affected area are healthy, she added. However, doctors have given preventive treatment. " Those infected with the intestinal form still have a life-threatened, the newspaper The Siberian Times. Military experts were sent in to analyze the area and incinerate the dead animals. The main risk of spreading the epidemic is linked to infected meat, the regional government decided to ban the export of any meat, skin or reindeer antlers earlier this week.

Anthrax is named after the Greek word for coal, with reference to blackish scabs that form on the skin of sufferers. The disease occurs in most of sub-Sahelian Africa and Asia, several countries in southern Europe, the Americas and parts of Australia. In France, animal anthrax outbreaks are regularly detected. Between 1999 and 2009, 74 outbreaks have been recorded, mainly in cattle. More recently, in 2001, anthrax was used in the US during bioterrorism, killing five.

With global warming, the Siberian permafrost has probably not finished unveiling its share of microbes trapped in the ice for decades, if not thousands of years. In September 2015, a French team of scientists announced the discovery of a giant virus from a completely unknown genre 30 000 reactivated after years of icy sleep.
