Sandstorm USA

by Christophe » 07/07/11, 00:06

2011 will definitely be difficult in terms of natural disasters for the biggest polluters on the planet ... an awareness in sight? Nothing is less sure...

A wall of sand falls on Phoenix

It is a real wall of sand, which surprised the residents of Phoenix on Tuesday! An exceptional dust storm hit the capital city of Arizona in the southern United States, plunging the city into darkness late Tuesday. The impressive cloud of about and 100 kilometers wide and 2 to 3 kilometers high, was pushed by winds blowing at 96 km / h, before passing the city at night.

The US National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that "a very significant, historic sandstorm" is moving towards this area. According to the NWS, the real wall of sand originated from a thunderstorm that had previously occurred in the Tucson area. No casualties or damage to homes or economic infrastructure were to be deplored at first, apart from falling electric poles and the interruption of air traffic for about an hour.

The phenomenon is neither deadly nor devastating. The inhabitants only have to take care to protect themselves effectively the face of the sand.

Photos and videos on several local news sites showed an impressive mass of dust drifting over the city, located in the heart of a desert area.

The United States is experiencing rare storms this year, the tornado season was the deadliest in 60 years, flooding has occurred along the Mississippi and the south is experiencing severe drought.

Videos are scary! It feels like a giant hand covers the city, it's very apocalyptic. It is clear that the Americans are suffering this year.

It is very impressive and also very beautiful, when you live it from the inside ...

But it is the daily life of the Egyptians for example, outside the tourist period, and they do not stop living for that.

Impressive but very little damage apparently ... finally visible damage ... because the sand ca everywhere!

It is the sellers of air filters (cars, air conditioners ...) who will be happy ...

Found in my archives:

According to a dispatch dated April 8, 2006:

The number of tornadoes in the United States is increasing sharply, according to specialists. In the first three months of the year, 286 tornadoes reportedly struck the country, compared to an average of 70 for the same period in the past three years. AP

At least 25 people were reportedly killed in less than a week in Tennessee alone.

Naturally, it will be objected that we cannot prejudge what the year will be in view of this first semester alone. But I remind you that Australia has just experienced the worst cyclone recorded in 30 years. And that I predicted that 2006 will most likely (95% risk) be at least as devastating as the previous year with regard to violent atmospheric phenomena: cyclones, tornadoes and / or
storms.

I don't play Mrs. Irma. Only the climate model on which I am basing myself foresees a henceforth continual reinforcement, year after year, of the frequency and the violence of these events (cf: "Earth, end of game?" In the online editions Eons)

This will in fact be one of the tests likely to confirm that 2005 has indeed been a pivotal year characterized by the passage of a threshold in climate degradation, in accordance with the analysis that I have been developing for almost two years on this subject.
I fear very much that only a significant reduction in solar activity can now give us a reprieve - and only a reprieve - in the absence of a reaction from the authorities much more serious than the too timid Kyoto protocol.
