mass stove; looking firebrick and experiences

by the middle » 28/08/09, 10:59

Hello,
Following multiple experiences on the accumulation of thermal energy via refractory bricks, wood heating, oil burner, I set out to build a mass stove that works with wood, and oil of recycled kitchen :D
My goal is to heat my 24h00 house with either 3 hours of burnt wood or 3 hours of oil or grease burner.
To take action, I would like to chat with a person who has a wood-fired wood stove., and also find refractory bricks in Belgium ...After, we will have to make the plan .... :D after....
PS, it's not complicated to register on econology to answer.

Uh i don't have any :)

By cons is no problem to buy bricks + refractory cement. I bought a few from Big Mat to fix a bushel ... I don't know if you had read the subject, I had made one.

If your question concerns the recupe, it will be, I think, much more delicate on the other hand ...

Hi Christopher,
To recover or not, I would need to properly make suitable bricks (which contain alumina), and normal refractory bricks.
And the whole will be more or less 2 tonnes : Cheesy:
So, I don't know where to find these "aluminized" bricks in Belgium :? or the north of France
No bricks lit up : Cheesy:

Arg 2 tons anyway? Will your floor hold up?
No sorry no personal experience ...

You have been to see the side of kacheloff Alsatian?

To what appears to be my (distant) ancestors who invented the mass stove (finally each region a little cold claims to be the inventor of the mass stove :D )

Attention to the spelling of kacheloff: there is also kachelof and kochelof and kocheloff ... it depends on the villages
: Cheesy:

Here are some infos: http://www.kachelof-grossiord.com/technique.html and very beautiful achievements: http://www.kachelof-grossiord.com/realisations.html (count 10 to 20 € / part installed all the same ...). It could give you ideas for the form! In any case I like those which are "stepped" like this one: (other than a beast block).

Ok for the floor, it should hold then!

Yes it is nice glad you like it !!

But for the price, it may well be! Each piece is unique so necessarily there is a cost ... but it gives a sacred value / charm to the house too. Do not plan to relocate it ...

But now that I think about it: Lietseu had, I believe, already spoken of a mass stove installed at your place? Do you want one 2ieme?

Yes, there is a small one ... which only takes 8 hours.
