Okofen PES 1 boiler setting

Hello,
I have just bought a house of approximately 180m2 equipped with an Okofen PES 15 pellet boiler with external silo and without production of domestic hot water which is an unconnected solar heating system. I live on the Var coast and I started the heating a fortnight ago the outside temperatures are variable between 5 ° C at night and 18 ° during the day with sun and 14 ° on gray or rainy days. I have a very excessive temperature in the house, there is no interior sensor (room thermostat) and the few radiators without thermostat are very hot. The entered instructions (T comfort, reduced, etc.) have no effect. The outside temperature sensor correctly indicates the temperature and is correctly located on the North gear. I tried to adjust the water curve but the results are not convincing, the boiler still produces water at 70 ° and the only way to stop the production of hot water from the heating circuit is to put the boiler paused ... I called the regional manager of Okofen since the heating installer did not deign to come and his diagnosis is that there is no three-way valve and therefore that the boiler always heats the water to maximum.
He intends to install this valve and an interior sensor system to manage the temperature according to our instructions, cost about 500 €.
Is this solution relevant and efficient? For me not a specialist at all, the three-way valve is used to distribute the heat between the heating and the domestic hot water but if I understand correctly the remaining channel is used to loop the water at the end of the heating circuit in the water outlet installation hot heating to avoid overheating the water, therefore modulating the demand for heat production?
According to him, if only one indoor sensor is installed, the boiler will always produce water at maximum, the temperature setpoints will have no effect.

Hello,

The regional manager is absolutely right, what a heresy not to include these two essential elements!
The room thermostat alone is useless other than making your heating circulator work in ON / OFF.


Rather than talking at length, here is an Okofen installation before and after setting up a V3V and a room thermostat.

1 / The boiler only knows the outside temperature and the temperature desired by the owner.
It operates in water law BUT WITHOUT ANY possibility of sending less hot water to the heating circuit AND WITHOUT ANY indication of the actual temperature reached in the home.
The boiler worked continuously, the owner had no comfort, the interior temperature fluctuated without being able to be regulated,
It's all how you feel

After installing a room thermostat AND a V3V, the curves speak for themselves.
And if you look at the room temperature setpoint and measured room temperature curves, you will be reassured about the capacities of the set offered by Okofen.
Just like the owner of the Okofen who serves as an example on these charts.

Thank you very much for your well documented feedback.
Indeed, an internal thermostat alone would only serve to cut the circulator but the boiler would maintain the production of hot water until reaching the fixed limit T (70 ° of memory).
The existence of the two attached graphics shows that I am not the only one to have an installation without 3V. I do not understand how at the time of the initial installation in 2014, this one was not recommended? But I now understand why the former owners had a wood stove on the ground floor and that they used the boiler only in very cold weather because they consumed 1,4 Tons of pellets per year, which is very little even on the Cote d'Azur. .

I will therefore validate the recommended solution. What I regret about Okofen is the not very explicit documentation even when consulting the installation manual. A small theoretical part is missing on pellet heating and the water law and then an advice on adjustments or at least the description of a first approach according to the different cases of figure (with thermostat, installation with radiators, with heated floor , etc ...). It would help.

Former user of a gas condensing boiler, I had a mobile indoor sensor, which allowed it to be moved to the coldest room or the one where we were. Okofen is late on this type of availability or is there an incompatibility?

Unfortunately I believe that the lack of training of certain professionals gives the result which you know.
Unless 500 € less on a quote will win the market to the detriment of a regulation worthy of the name ...
In the last century (so yesterday or almost), a circulator that was ON / OFF did not bother anyone. Today we are all more or less demanding on permanent and economical comfort.

Regarding the Okofen room thermostat, from what I know all their sensors are only wired.
Why ? I couldn't tell you, but Okofen's doesn't just simply transfer the temperature.
Above all, carefully study its future positioning, not in a room bathed in sunlight or in a hallway heated by a radiator for example.
