2019 barometer of energy wood prices

by Christophe » 11/10/19, 17:47

I relay this message received by mail:

Dedicated to guide households in the choice of their suppliers of wood energy (logs, densified wood, wood pellets) the site Bois-de-chauffage.net which receives 1,5 million visits per year publishes the new barometer of the prices actually practiced.

More than 7 millions of French households are concerned by this study since they are equipped with wood heaters. 9 millions should be by 2020.

This barometer analyzes the prices of the different energies purchased by these households and the impact of the different consumption criteria (packaging, transport ...) to understand the evolution of energy wood prices in each region of France:

- The average price of a cubic meter of logs is thus 71 €

- The ton of pellets goes up to 303 €

- And the ton of densified wood at 340 €.

Cyril Esnault, leader of CanoP, SAS who publishes Bois-de-Chauffage.Net, comments on the study:
- “The purchase of wood energy remains a very dispersed and opaque market, it is important to try to make it more transparent.

This involves in particular the analysis of prices which indicates a stability in the prices charged, stability in line with the trend observed in recent years.

This makes it all the more attractive as gas, oil and electricity prices are more volatile.

We thus see new consumers turning to wood heating (especially via pellet stoves).

Despite the increase in users, overall consumption remains stable because equipped households consume less and less fuelwood: the insulation of homes and the increased performance of appliances requiring less fuel.

We are also seeing a growing demand for quality products and services to make life easier, improve product yields with dry products and reduce air pollutant emissions.

It will also remain vigilant to respect the positive carbon impact of this energy by buying local products from well-managed areas and observe the impact of the government's "energy check" and "heating boost" operations. "
