Hello
we build our house and we want to install a wood stove in our living room.
Our house is pretty well insulated (30 bricks and 29,5 pregimax). She makes 100m2 on the ground (except garage) with 20m2 on the first floor.
The stove will be installed in an 35m2 lounge open to the entrance and kitchen of 16m2. This makes a total heating surface of 55m2 (2m50 ceiling height). A staircase leads upstairs through the lobby, right next to the future stove. The rooms downstairs are located further.
We live in altitude in a mountain area (1000m approximately) and the living room is oriented South with 2 bay windows.
We know you should not buy an oversized stove. We do not have big means and we wish to heat the stove mainly for the living room + hall + kitchen but we will still place radiators just in case.
If I calculated well, but catch me if I'm wrong, we need a stove 7kw. Our pace of life (and our budget!) Would not coincide with a steatite stove.
in short, I summarize what we want:
-wood stove from 7kw
-not soapstone
- logs of 50cm
Yield greater than 75%, green flame
-if possible with bonfire (or in any case, in height) and cooking niche
-if possible with side opening also
I do not wish to come back here to our arguments concerning the "why not with pellets?" or "why not in soapstone?" or "why with an opening on the side?" "why in height?" etc ...
on the other hand, with our wishes, and in the jungle of stoves that exist, I can not find a matching stove!
for 7kw, logs of 50cm, it's already sweeping to find
but with all our wishes, I have not seen anything yet
knowing that my budget can not exceed 1500 € for the stove ...
thank you very much to those who could help us!
Can you help me choose my woodstove?

Hello,
To start with the advice we gave yesterday about this almost identical subject: https://www.econologie.com/forums/choix-d-un ... 10546.html
For the choice of the power, with the ladle, 1kW is generally recommended as 20m3.
In your case, therefore, at least on 7kW (which can do the least, but do not oversize too much or risk overheating), so calculation is correct but as you are at altitude, I think that 10kW would not no harm, especially if you want 50 cm.
Think about taking a side loading stove and focus on performance and design features!

but I look in an ad that I have in front of me, it's more expensive than a stove and they are at least 11KW in this magazine

Ok very good, so basically you would like us to advise you a specific model?
Have you ever looked at which builders? I like the invicta quality / price ratio and it's made in France.

my husband likes this one
http://www.godin.fr/les-poeles-traditio ... s/1784-eco
but I think that for our surface, it is oversized, with 11kW5, right?
otherwise it exists in 10kw but does not have the bread niche at the top
