Energy Transition, These Truths Disturbing!

Bertrand Cassoret is a defender of the environment and the energy transition, it is not a climatosceptique. While he believes that we must promote the development of renewable energies, he stresses, however, that to maintain our standard of living, it is absolutely imperative to continue our policy in the nuclear field. For going out of the nuclear power and switching to renewable energies would result in a drastic reduction in our energy consumption, with all the consequences that we can imagine in terms of decay, access to culture, education or the health…

Bertrand Cassoret is an engineer and senior lecturer in electrical engineering and director of the Electrical Engineering program at the University of Artois.
Reducing our CO2 emissions means first of all reducing transport and first and foremost: the private car ... Difficult, but with a fair policy towards those who make it their working tool or to go to work ... " extremely complicated change of society "...

Like Jancovici, he knows how to interpret the numbers ...
à 13:40, his point of view on nuclear

this character takes the clichés of the moment simply. If it speaks of nuclear 4 ° generation, it has no decline on the industrial level and is only a wishful thinking. For the rest, it is in the most absolute wave confusing degrowth and poverty.

And blah blah ... That's 20 years we hear the same thing and manipulate people!

So I want to sign Abbé Pierre (which should please Janic):

"We must not wait for it to be perfect to act"
(or something like that)

I think that with the pros EnR, local storage (which will explode in the coming years) and the smart gird, large power generation companies will no longer exist in 40 years (at least not on their current form of ultra production centralized), so they try to push back this deadline by maintaining misinformation ... France is particularly talented on the question ... hence the delay we took in the RE ... and the bad way to continue all nuclear 20 years ago ...

We can see the current result: EdF is saying today almost bankrupt ...

With an installed PV price for individuals at 2 € / Wc (see here solar-photovoltaic / solar-issues-of-basic-t16018.html ), we understand that those who bet 100% in the EPR have the balls ... and it is not the end of the price decline!

Let talkers talk about the past, I'm more interested in the actors of change! : Mrgreen:

Totally agree ! Hyper centralization had only one goal: monopoly. This loss of monopoly therefore leads to decentralization obligatorily either by competition or more simply by small local autonomous units (as for water) complementing each other with the help of neighboring regions.
We can see the current result: EdF is saying today almost bankrupt ...
Largely because of the nuclear power precisely, putting all his eggs in the same basket, and it is not about to stop with the madness of the all electric transport.

You just forgot liquid nitrogen!

Yes it is because of the nuclear!

But here too (and it is even more serious) there is a work of undermining and misinformation of the truth is made since many put the bankruptcy of EdF on the development of RE (which is however only a twelfth. ... how a twelfth could bankrupt EdF ??? : Mrgreen: )

You leave !

ps: local storage includes all storage solutions huh ...

I think this discussion will look strangely like this: energies-fossil-nuclear / jean-marc-Jancovici-is-it-a-con-t14740.html (at least the beginning)

It would be unimportant to consider liquid nitrogen as a purely local storage solution: we can very well envisage a national network linking regional storage hubs .....

Uh, well, irony, it's going for a while, do not forget that there are some uninitiated who read this ... : Mrgreen:
