Polluted health, broadcast on France3

by Christophe » 03/06/08, 22:24

It happened last night on FR3. Interesting to educate the general public about pollution ... of all kinds.

The opportunity to raise awareness, inform, explain and give voice to viewers around a subject that concerns us all: pollution and its effects on health. Witnesses tell us their stories and specialists answer all your questions live…

Reports:

• All-out pollution! (Report to Champlan in Essonne)
• Story of an announced catastrophe: asbestos
• Cancer and dry cleaning
• Farmers intoxicated with pesticides
• What do our plates contain?
• Portrait of a hypersensitive electro
• Testimony of a couple attacked by noise

Seen in full.

Michel Cimes asked the .. ???? ... AFSET logue, who claimed that everything is well controlled in relation to European standards and that therefore there is no problem to consume non-organic fruits and vegetables , not to use cellphones without headset ..etc, if she ate organic => answer = yes : Mrgreen: , if she would live in ?? (city near Paris which suffers all conceivable pollution) => answer = no : Shock: .

In summary: do what I say, but I take precautions because with me that I know, I am far too afraid to risk my life !!!

As for the pollution in the apartments, formaldehyde has been known as harmful for a very long time and we continue to manufacture agglo furniture.

They have shown the plants that absorb these harmful chemicals.

They also talked about the particles emitted but at the time of talking about diesel, the word was spoken once and then they only talked about automobile pollution. there are taboo subjects, as usual.

The cat ... log of the offset? :?: : Cheesy:

In any case, she was anything but credible ... : Mrgreen:

Too bad that the type of Criirem was called millitant even if there is something to reproach this organism like the recent study on the "radiations" (in fact very limited, not more than another electronic system) of fluorescent bulbs. ..

Pfff ... European standards ...

I am going to make a standard "A natural disaster is from 20mm of precipitation per day", have it adopted in Europe, and shoo! a stupid European standard!

Whatever...

He may be eatingequivalent 1.5 kg of presticide ... but surely not 1,5 kg of pure pesticides.

It's a bit like you could say that he eats the equivalent of X kg of oil that was necessary for the food production he consumes ...

A good critical analysis of the program:

(...)What stands out from this evening is the impression of having attended a remarkable disinformation operation ...

Certainly, a lot has been said about health - pollution, and very clearly. We cannot blame France 3 for having hidden truths. But we can criticize France 3, and the producers of the show, for constantly trying to put this information into perspective by the soothing official words of a representative of a public health agency, through the pitiful interventions of the two main hosts and by the irresponsible candid number of a famous person who did not know the subject.

We know that "to make an audience" you need spectacle, humor and increasingly, unfortunately, very low-level humor. But perhaps on certain subjects, and particularly on this one, a minimum of seriousness could be necessary. Or if not serious, just a little respect for sick people. But obviously, even this, our "public television service" is no longer able to provide it.

Such an attitude is more than damaging. She is very sad, very serious. And especially so revealing of the essential challenges posed by health and environment issues.

What is at issue today is not only a hypothetical cancer epidemic in 30 to 40 years for a marginal proportion of the population who will have had no luck. Right now there are thousands, tens of thousands of sick people. Who see their lives destroyed. Who are not recognized by anyone, especially not by those whose trade or mission. People condemned to fend for themselves with highly disabling pathologies and with the image of psychologically disturbed people that society sends back to them.

These problems that we are seeing right now, in many countries, are indicative of an even bigger problem: the very survival of the human species on our Earth which is at stake.

So why this failure to seriously tackle the problem?

Let's try an explanation: remedying the problem certainly means calling into question the very foundations of our very dear "development model". That is to say, totally reconsidering our lifestyles, our modes of consumption, moving towards more responsible, more civic societies, which would be able to refuse anything that makes us sick ... even if this generates "growth", "economic wealth" and vast "globalized markets".

The response of the "autistic" who committed the show last night appears much simpler, much less disturbing and infinitely more profitable for some. It is neither more nor less than inventing new markets that are supposed to more or less repair the damage in other markets. A recipe already widely proven in the past for the benefit of a few multinational companies and an incalculable number of "health professionals" who will look into - if Social Security, or what will remain of it, wants it ! - on the very sad cases of these "poor collateral victims of progress that cannot be stopped". As for example, as Jean-Louis Etienne seems to call it, a vast "Psy" market for all those whose body, despite repeated incantations, will stubbornly refuse to adapt!

After turning off the TV, I tried a dream. And I invite you to dream with me of a public television freed from the "tyranny" of advertising, which could finally produce serious programs, dealing with "real" subjects and seeking / offering "real" solutions ... 'a world where the important thing would not be the infinite growth of GDP and the megalomaniacal desire of a minority, but the health and happiness of all humans ...
