Do not miss my especially tomorrow evening:

Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 21:35 p.m.

Investigation of the thousands of 11/XNUMX collateral victims in New York, firefighters, rescuers and workers who have breathed highly toxic substances for weeks.

Report by Xavier Deleu, Isabelle Duriez and Oriane Denneulin (France, 2006, 22mn)
Co-production: ARTE, Please turn
ARTE GEIE

As it collapsed, the World Trade Center towers released a cloud of 1 tonnes of debris, including 800 tonnes of asbestos and dioxin. These highly toxic substances can cause chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma and, in the long term, cancer, neurological and reproductive disorders. For long weeks, firefighters, rescuers, volunteers inhaled these harmful substances; 000 construction workers cleared the site without sufficient protection. Today these "heroes of America" are falling ill by the thousands. Sixty have already died from diseases caused by the toxic cloud.

Multicast on September 14, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. and September 16, 2006 at 9:00 a.m.

ARTE Reportage is now alternately presented by Nathalie Georges and Andrea Fies.

But no, you're wrong, Christophe, for the hawks, each new American death more or less linked to terrorism allows them 25000 Iraqi (and / or Iranian) deaths.
They are still waiting for 50 years of death to invade Iran.

No the story is an eternal restart ... I liked the alusions during the speech of the "contaminated" towards the end: Agent Orange in Vietnam, syndrome of the 1st Gulf War ... and now "WTC syndrome "... in all 3 cases the behavior of the" responsible "is the same: a wall of silence!

Well anything that contains chlorine and that burns can release dioxins, some of which are very dangerous.

So everything in pvc, vinyl, synthetic carpets ... etc etc ... in short chlorine abounds in modern offices ...

Otherwise a book corresponding to has been published:

Summary

In the aftermath of September 11, 2001 in New York, the dust had not yet settled, when the rescue teams - firefighters, nurses, construction workers - began to clear some 1,6 million tonnes of rubble; without forgetting the cleaning agents who were busy so that activity could resume in the neighboring towers.

What has become of those who, ill-equipped, lacking in masks, worked in asbestos dust, breathing in the particles of benzene, dioxin, lead copper? Ground Zero quickly emerged as the most dangerous construction site in the United States.

Thousands of them are sick today. Sick of pollution that the Bush administration has tried to minimize. Sick of a lie.

No, the air was not healthy in Manhattan eight days after the attack, as claimed by government agencies whose first concern seems to have been to reopen the Stock Exchange and restart the financial heart of the planet. Even if it means sacrificing the heroes. Even if it means facing more than 8 lawsuits today to compensate for the damage suffered ...

The stock market or life, the Bush administration has chosen.

This is demonstrated in this heartbreaking investigation by Jacqueline Maurette, reporter for Viva magazine. Specializing in occupational health problems, she met patients, the associations that support them, analyzed the press and scientific literature. She wrote this book so that these heroes are not forgotten.

There is not only asbestos in flame retardants, there are POPs such as bromine in industrial quantities (found in all plastics and synthetic floor coverings ...) and which also causes infertility. Once in the water table or in the soil, it only accumulates, and practically impossible to dislodge, and it obviously enters the food chain ...
A thought for those who not only worked on the site, but also to the inhabitants in the bordering area.
For the exposure of populations: it is the same every time there is a large-scale disaster (Bopal, Seveso, Chernobyl, 9/11)

Would I be so cruel ... : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: [joke off mode]

It is curious because somewhere it is the thesis of some doctors who had estimated (and observed daily in their consulting room) that families coming from the countryside with a solid immune capital, when they installed in the city were quickly weakened, then the appearance of degenerative diseases and then the gradual extinction of the "lineage". On this point, the polluted environment of cities joins and increases the effects of "junk food" ...
