Neurology: the belly, the intestinal flora and the intestines are our 2nd brain (Arte)

Interesting documentary about the nervous center that we all have at the level of ... navel on Arte.

Having a "belly lump" takes on its full definition!

THE BRAYER, OUR SECOND BRAIN

Last updated: January 31 2014

What do we know about our belly, this organ stuffed with neurons, that researchers are just beginning to explore? It seems that our brain is not the only master on board.

A few years ago, scientists discovered that we have a second brain. Our stomach indeed contains two hundred million neurons which take care of our digestion and exchange information with our "head". Researchers are only now beginning to decipher this secret conversation. They noticed, for example, that our enteric brain, that of the womb, produced 95% of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that participates in the management of our emotions. We knew that what we felt could act on our digestive system. We discover that the reverse is also true: our second brain plays with our emotions.

Very interesting report ....

A weird thing, the presence of neurons en masse in the belly connected to our brain (head) enough to declare that we have a second brain! : Shock:

They demonstrate the reciprocal communication / interaction between the two brains, but also that it is the same neuron "component" which makes the link to say that it is a brain. We will have to redefine what a brain is, what is it for etc ..... : Idea:

It would be much more judicious to say that the belly is the first brain because its neurons precede those of the brain to ensure the organic functions.

Indeed it is interesting especially for hormones. Moreover, during the operation it's scary. But it is still necessary to calm down it represents only 0.25% of the brain.

nonole robot hello
Indeed it is interesting especially for hormones. Moreover, during the operation it's scary. But it is still necessary to calm down it represents only 0.25% of the brain.
it is not the quantity that counts, but the function and its importance. It is enough, for example, that a gland disfunctions so that the whole human machine is degraded, even if the brain retains all its integrity. Take the example of the young man in a relative coma who wants to die or not; the brain is intact and yet nothing works.
Also take the example of autism, which usually affects individuals with disturbed digestive functions and therefore repercussions on brain function. We are a whole, not just a set of parties as too much considered by a part of the medical profession.

The heart would also be a third brain (40 000 neurons):

There are also the adrenal glands that generate hormones with major influences on the brain.

The documentary Arte has been rebroadcast and it is now entirely on youtube (hoping it stays there, since it is the official Arte channel):

Rolalala all the videos are out of order ... Yet it seemed to me that the last ones were on Arte's official account ...

Otherwise, I just posted this: https://www.econologie.com/micro-organi ... ntestinal/
