Electro-photography Kirlian and energetic. What to think?

How to stay healthy and prevent risks and consequences on your health and public health. occupational disease, industrial risks (asbestos, air pollution, electromagnetic waves ...), company risk (workplace stress, overuse of drugs ...) and individual (tobacco, alcohol ...).

Electro-photography Kirlian and energetic. What to think?

by Christophe » 07/07/11, 13:55

Topic to present and discuss the Kirlian effect: is it a possible tool for health diagnosis and "good health / good energy level / even a psychological state" of the living or a simple electrographic sleight of hand which does not allow seeing anything special if it is not is a high voltage / frequency electrical ionization effect (corona effect)?

The debate is open. Some Kirlian photos are ... "disturbing" anyway!

Presentation of the Kirlian effect (skeptical scientific version) from Wiki:

The process known as Kirlian photography (or Kirlian effect) was accidentally discovered in 1939 by Russian technician Semyon Kirlian and his wife Valentina Kirlian. Kirlian shots show a bright halo around an object. For Kirlian and his successors, attached to the field of parapsychology and energy medicines, Kirlian photography would be a manifestation of the human aura.

This phenomenon became popular with the publication of Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schroeder's book Psychic Discoveries in 1970 (French translation: Fantastic Parapsychic Research in the USSR, 1973).

It has since been shown that the luminous halo present around the photographed objects is due to the corona effect.

Descriptions

Kirlian photography, or high frequency photography, "rediscovered" in 1939 in Russia by the Kirlian spouses, makes it possible to visualize a luminous halo resembling an aura of various colors, about 1 to 3 cm wide, around objects or of living things. This luminous halo is explained by "a gas ionization generated in the immediate vicinity of the subject immersed in a strong alternating electric field".

The ghost leaf

The Kirlians, having cut a piece of a leaf, were surprised to obtain a photograph resembling an entire leaf. This would support the idea of the "aura" that would persist even in the missing parts of the object.

According to three Indian researchers, Kejariwal, Chattopadhya and Choudhury (1983), the photography of the “ghost sheet” effect is relatively easy with a frequency above 100 kHz and a nominal voltage between the two electrodes between 15 to 20 kV.

Researchers at Drexel University in Philadelphia have shown that they are unable to reproduce this phenomenon when the glass used to photograph the original sheet is replaced by a new glass, before the torn sheet is shot. They also demonstrated that several parameters, such as humidity or pressure, could vary the halo in shape, color or size. Likewise, inanimate objects can produce halo images [1].

Explanations

Scientific studies have shown that the corona effect is responsible for halos. In a dark room, this effect is visible as a faint glow. In the case of Kirlian photography, due to the high tension, the photographic film is affected more deeply than in a case of normal use, giving rise to the colored volutes observed.

According to researchers at Drexel University, the phenomena of variations and persistence of halos are due to microscopic scratches on the surface of the glass used during the preparation of the image.

The promoters of the Kirlian effect, without denying the existence of a physical process allowing the creation of these halos, consider that their shape and their color would be influenced by the energetic state of the object of the photograph. According to Kirlian, the effect is a manifestation of "the conversion of the non-electrical properties of an object or a body into electrical properties, with a direct transfer of the charges from the object or the body onto the photographic emulsion" . [Ref. needed] Some therapists (bioenergetic medicines) use the Kirlian process to establish an "energy diagnosis" on people.

To date, the scientific community has not recognized the existence of the concepts of "aura" or "etheric body" and the Kirlian effect is not recognized as a manifestation of their existence.

The aura belongs rather to the domain of the paranormal, to want to raise it by a technical means seems to me more than doubtful.
After that, this does not mean that this method is not interesting for other fields.
