Manufacture of an oil filter in 5 microns

by the middle » 06/06/08, 11:42

:?
Hello,
My old Nissan is very happy to drive with a 50% oil, 50% diesel mixture.
For now, I'm filtering my restaurant oil with hard coffee filters.
I don't want to tinker with sheets, or filter bags…
Buying a filter with pump is too expensive 3000 euros.
So, I prepare the material to make a good filter, with a pump (it will allow me to filter + -100 liters an hour)
I have almost everything except a spring ……
As the filter will be removable, I need a spring to support the filter on a gasket
O RING
Inner diameter of the spring, 27 mm
The ends of the spring must be flat (important)
Spring length + - 100mm
I'm thinking of a valve spring, or a clutch spring, for example ... but 27mm minimum inside diameter.
It is not easy to find….
Whoever finds me will be thankful
Ha, yes, the spring must work in compression

Hello,
What wire diameter and how many turns, your spring?

Is 27mm critical?

This is not because we always said that it is impossible that we should not try :)

Vi, 27, or 28 mm, this is important, to center the filter
The spring will be threaded on a 26mm diameter tube.
The diameter, and the number of turns? no idea ..
I would say that there will be a pressure of 1 bar max of oil on the Oring seal. The spring is used to seal between the filter and the oring.
The spring will be compressed by a threaded rod of + - 10 cm.

Hello,
Try to meet an elevator repairer, they have those kind of springs for the brakes

Roohhh, this is exactly it!
Hello Flytox,
I have already found one, but not as good as yours ..
So, first of all, I will ask the farmer who will build the filter for me if my spring is good, or if I should use yours which is perfect for me.
Thanks already, and I'll keep you posted.

Bonjour,
Finally my friend farmer and very good handyman made my filter without spring.
Second-hand filter with 5 micron of recovery,
The stainless steel recovery nozzle.
There is a view of the threaded rod inside, (which is used to tighten the filter on its seals, and a view before mounting.
Now you have to connect the pump, and that's 3000 euros won, and basta the coffee filters :D

Hello

I have several hydraulic stainless steel metal filters,
but 5 microns? it is rather 10 microns.
Despite the filtration a good decantation is essential if you do not want too much problem ..

Filtration and decantation will always remain the main obstacle to the recovery of frying oils, for most users, a centrifuge is the preferred tool.
