ATE: an association of motorists not like the others

by Charlotte » 24/10/06, 13:44

I am not sure where to put this subject, but it seems to me that it is a matter of politics and transport organizations.

I just signed up for ATE http://www.ate.ch/, the Transport and Environment Association in Switzerland. This association offers the classic services of automobile clubs (breakdown assistance, insurance, etc.), but emphasizes the reduction of motorized traffic and the use of public transport.

It seems very economical to me, all that, we associate action for the environment with the reality of those whose vehicle is essential. I definitely prefer that to the pro-car lobbies that groan against the bus lanes!

And you, Belgian and French friends, do you have similar associations at home?

I do not know if such associations exist in France ... generally the auto clubs are rather: pro power, pro large sedan, pro gasoline cheap .... etc etc

In short they defend the interests of the driver ... not really the econology ...

So that on this "econo" files I had already cited a Swiss site:
https://www.econologie.com/polluer-et-co ... -1892.html
https://www.econologie.com/guide-eco-dri ... -3505.html

To know : http://www.eco-drive.ch/
and this document comes from ATE: https://www.econologie.com/guide-d-achat ... -3507.html

ps: i like your avatar 8)

reps: your subject could make 1 news for the blog right? :)

There are also associations that seek to promote other forms of travel while remaining based on the automobile:

Car pooling which is beginning to be known and which connects applicants and drivers:
http://www.covoiturage.com/
http://www.co-voiturage.fr/
etc ...

We also have car sharing systems.
This can be the group of friends who buy and use a car together. And this can be a national association (or a company) which manages a fleet of cars that members can book by the hour or by the day with financial advantages such as access to preferential rates for parking lots, a reduction in all car maintenance costs, an internet reservation system, ...
Allows you to rent a car as needed: a car for a trip or a kangoo for a move.
Ecologically: less cars and better management of resources
Economically: more interesting than the traditional rental for
occasional small trips.
