Waste: Paris "recycles" Christmas trees

by Christophe » 26/12/07, 16:48

In fact it is a simple "green composting", so I do not know if the term recycling is really correct but to compost is much better than to incinerate not?

Give a second life to your tree

After decorating your house, give a second life to your natural tree. Bring it between 26 December 2007 and 20 January 2008 in one of the 65 parks and gardens where the City Council sets up a collection point.

Spruce, Nordmann or Omorika (blue spruce) enlivened your interior with the spirit of Christmas and welcomed the gifts left by Santa Claus. When you separate, think that it can be recycled. The Town Hall is setting up collection points in 65 parks and gardens. Posters at the park entrance will show you where the collection point is. In the 4 largest parks: Monceau (8e), Belleville (20e), Buttes-Chaumont (19e) and Montsouris (14e), access to the collection point will be signposted from the various entrances.

Warning: leave only natural trees without ornamentation or flocking of any kind.

A second life for your tree

The tree that you deposit, previously cleared of its decorations, will be crushed and valued in this garden, by the services of the Directorate of Green Spaces and Environment. The obtained material, called mulching, will be spread on the surface of the massifs to enrich the soil by decomposing.
