Phasing out of sale of incandescent bulbs
Pursuant to the agreement signed in October 2008 with professionals in mass distribution and DIY, incandescent (or filament) bulbs are gradually being withdrawn from sale, while the share of sales of low-consumption lamps (compact fluorescent) , which consume five times less energy, should increase by the end of 2012.
Domestic incandescent bulbs (class D, E, F or G) are no longer sold according to the following schedule:
July 2009, from 100 W,
January 2010, from 75 W,
July 2010, from 60 W,
September 2011, from 40 W,
January 2013, from 25 W.
The display of the energy class of the bulbs (from class A for the most economical to class G for the most energy-consuming) remains mandatory on their packaging.
In addition, lamps that contain mercury and support an eco-contribution to the purchase (fluorescent tubes - or neon lights - fluorescent, compact, metal iodide, metal halide, sodium, mercury vapor, leds) must be recycled at end of life.
