Laptop battery

by Polo » 12/04/07, 11:53

Hello,
Here I hesitate between 2 behaviors: to use my computer as much as possible on the battery (apparently less consumer) or on the sector (to lengthen the life of the battery)
What to do?????
please

From a hardware point of view a laptop consumes as much on the battery as on the sector.

These are software settings (power management in windows) which means that you can consume less while being on battery.

But considering the losses at the level of the load I think that it is not judicious to work at home on battery (what you gain, if you gain, on one side you lose it during the charge because of the output : charger + battery ...)

So I think it is more interesting to charge the battery to the max and to get it out of the PC when you use it at home. If you have a PM230 it would be interesting to see the difference (personally I can not test, my laptop has no battery for 2 years ...)

Okay great, I would do that then;
For the PM230 I was not born in DSL. But as soon as I have all the urgent stuff, I will order it from Santa Claus!
ciao and thanks for that quick and accurate response

Gab I think so ...

Now to be sure you have to test: I have a PM but I have more battery ...

Is there a visitor equipped with a wattmetre and a pc with battery?

ps: my compaq portable pc bought in 2002 has NEVER lasted more than 25 minutes on battery. A shame...

ho she's fine the hint, "Is there a visitor ... "which actually means"Delnoram, you who have a wattmeter and a laptop with a battery, you could make this measurement for us ... feignasse" : Evil:
[paranoid mode = OFF]
: Mrgreen: : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:
Good numbers: (measurement with PM230)
Portable + battery 43w
Portable without battery 31w
Portable off but battery charging 30w

ps: to do well, the measurement should be done with the battery completely discharged

no real change, my battery was at 1% at the start and 65% when I stopped, the consumption did not change
