Nintendo advises children not to play with its new console

3DS could affect eye development in children under the age of six.

Japanese video game pioneer Nintendo on Thursday issued a warning about its new 3D-screen handheld console, advising children aged six and under not to play it in order to protect their eyes. The 3DS console will be released on February 26 in Japan, then in March in Europe, the United States and Australia. But in anticipation of a promotional campaign that will run for three days from January 8 in Tokyo, Nintendo issued a statement announcing that "children aged 6 and under will be able to play only with a 2D console because the view 3D images for a long time could negatively affect the development of their eyes ".

The 3DS is equipped with two screens, one of which allows you to see images in relief without special glasses, as long as you are facing it. Nintendo added on its site that according to experts, all 3D images - not only those from Nintendo 3DS but also those from movies and television - could affect the eyesight of young children. The Japanese company asks parents to use the "parental control" button provided on the new console to block access to the 3D screen for young children.
