2 Windows 7 Seven on the same network LAN = Internet HS? Bug?

by Christophe » 29/12/10, 16:44

I just saw an amazing thing !!!

I put 2 windows seven on the same local network and there is a "conflict": one of the 2 disconnects from the net ... by "suddenly" ...

Uh what is this delirium? Has anyone noticed something similar? I dream or else?

I do not have DHCP enabled, the IPs are configured manually and are therefore different (until now, I thought it came from an IP conflict with automatic allocation).

A specialist seven would have a suggestion of tips to check before I go to linux? I have no error message on either, except that one of the 2 says losing the connection to the net (but not to the network). The other RAS.

Both are wired in RJ2 on the same router, no wifi.

Too bad I found Seven much nicer than Vista ...

ps: these are 2 legal versions each with a different serial number ...

Hello,
Check your addresses or your address range in your router .....

Well, that's where I started ... but it continues ... well I'll review in detail.

But if it was an IP problem it would break the connection to the router, by just the net ... :| :?:

No !
Just the wrong address allows the router to sputter by giving you from time to time a good packet that clears security.
It seems to me a router config bp .....

I'm going to watch but it's been 4 years that it runs with 2000, XP, Linux on N machines at the same time without ever having such worries ...

Strange...

Bjr,

Do not use the values across your address range ....

Bjr,

Try something:
Deactivate your network card and reactivate it three seconds after and when win 7 is on the way .....
Pb often meets for win 7 64bits ...

Actually it's two win 7 64 bits ...

I rechecked for possible IP conflicts on all machines: RAS.

I continue the tests.

I had restricted the number of IPs connected to the router to 5 ... I put 10 and it seems better ... but I did not have 5 machines connected simultaneously! Maybe it's 5 "connectable" IPs with memory of the MAC address? But in this case I had already exceeded the limit before this problem ... Strange anyway.

I'll let you know if it's stable ... or not ... :|

look no further, that was the problem.

the router keeps in memory the ip used, so it wallows when it does not have any more.

check in case the MAC addresses of the 2 network cards of windows 7, in case they are the same ... it happens ...

Ah, I didn't know that it was possible to have 2 identical macs? I thought it was in hardware ...

Well indeed with the limit of the router pushed back from 5 to 10 ip it seems to work. So I also think it was a "cache" problem.

It is just amazing that:

a) it only disconnects the net and not the network
b) it did not make the problem before windows seven

Good it is solved (for the moment) it is essential!
