Hey hey me who am "fan" of u-boat I know a little this file, the U864, 1st submarine sunk in plunged by a torpedo of another submarine, opening the way of the submarine war "modern "... there is a TV movie on the subject.

In fact it was a lot of "luck": 4 torpedoes fired in salvo, the last one that hits, obviously the torpedoes did not have "homing", there was only a possible change of trajectory at launch!

Finally hat even to the English captain !!
An ultra complete site on the uboot: http://www.uboat.net/
U864 Fact Sheet: http://www.uboat.net/boats/u864.htm

The best war movie of all time: http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=rNMhyl3t0fU

To return to the subject, it would surprise me that someone pays one day the bailout ...

And it gets worse: the old Russian nuclear submarines that rot in the sea of barens ... not "decontaminated" of course ...

Hello,

It is not only abroad!
In our good old France for a good fifteen years mercury was thrown into the sea. Not tons but 200 kg from time to time.
And a single reported accident has secu for 200Kg with rather serious consequences especially psychological (depressions in chains with obligation of electrochocs)
Finally it is of the past, but the scientific experiments have good back !!

It must be for the batteries, there were many mercury batteries in time.

Edit: No, it was just mercury they were delivering to weapons factories in japan to do what, I do not know:
