Attachment of Belgium to France

by the middle » 14/08/08, 07:09

Hello,
At the beginning, I wanted to put as title "noises of corridor"
But now, this hallway noise materializes:
The story:
A month ago, I spoke with a person who had problems with his taxes, he went to the tax department to get information.
The conversation was relaxed, and the official dropped "you know, our services are preparing for the attachment of Belgium to France : Shock: " this is called hallway noise.
And then this morning, I came across a site called "Lapetition.be"
Here is one of his articles:
For the attention of / Ter attentie van: Belgians

Category: Politics

While the country is in crisis following what could be called "sandbox quarrels" largely caused by a Flanders which is inexorably sinking towards an increasingly extreme "linguistic" nationalism dating back to Another century, certain Belgians (more than 40% according to a survey !!) seem more and more in favor of a "connection with France".

Do the Belgians no longer have any self-esteem? The French media are more and more present in Belgium, the Belgians even seem to prefer to watch the same program on French channels rather than on our national channels, which are broadcast first here. Our culture is being absorbed, or should we say "crushed" by French culture. What do they have more than us? Don't we have our culture, our identity, a minimum of pride?

Our ancestors fought to gain independence for Belgium! We have our own language, our own culture, why sell it off like that? We use richer and more logical words such as "septante", "supper". Is it still useful to recall the etymology of the word "lunch"? Why have lunch twice in the same day? And why not 2 times? (So let's set up the "Big Breakfast" for the evening meal, in this case, that would make more sense!) And what about the "ninety" and so on which are linguistic aberrations? The evolution of the language is one thing, but why evolve downwards?

Does the French-speaking Belgian suffer from such an inferiority complex that he needs so much to be held by his hand? We have nothing to envy in France, both in the social and health sector and in terms of language! There would be dozens of reasons to refuse this "connection", but only one is enough, that of keeping our honor and our heads held high!

The only purpose of this petition is to get people to react! It is not only against this movement of attachment to France but also FOR the preservation of our heritage, our identity, our culture, our language!

We are Belgian, citizens of Europe and the World, but we are certainly not French, or anything else! We want to keep our identity! And do not get me wrong on this petition, it is not against France and the French, it is FOR Belgium and nothing else!

If you agree with the content of this petition, please spread the word to as many people as possible!

Is it still a hallway noise?
Personally, I don't care, as long as I'm allowed to drink beer and not wine : Cheesy:

You Belgians who are at the heart of the "conflict" ...

Statistically, with the Walloons, is there a majority of Belgians who want the split?

Is the "climate" between Walloons and French-speaking Belgians really "hatred" or cordial cohabitation?

Or is it just a wave of media background expertly orchestrated by a minority of extremists of all stripes?

A distant mountain dweller ...

I like beer et wine . These are the opportunities that differ, that's all.

For the rest, I don't care too much but what I fear is that if it ever happens, the Walloons may be damn disappointed!
Let me explain: a few weeks ago I heard on RTL TVI a guy (supposedly specialist) who said "there is no problem, everything would remain the same except that there would be the header French Republic instead of Kingdom of Belgium on the papers ". What Nenni! What naivety! In Belgium, tradition and mentalities are for discussion, respect for others in order to find relatively equitable common ground, and apparently inextricable administrative and political situations are the consequence.
But in France, it's Paris that decides and the others close their mouths. And I find it hard to see Belgians accept this type of power 100 times more autocratic than their monarchy.

Neither ... it's mostly ignorance of the other! In fact, humanely, Wallonia and Flanders is already 2 different countries ... there is only the administrative unit that unites them ...

The rest is a game of politics ...

+1 with Christine: Wallonia is based on a federal organization which is quite incompatible with French centralism!

Take waste management: each municipality has its own system. Here no national TRUST for the collection and treatment of waste: everything is much more localized!

Alors I bet if we go to France will have to close the park to contain selective sorting and build incinerators to make a little more the fortune of the dirlos de suez or véolia and all these bastards ... : Evil: : Evil: : Evil:
