Not looked for more info but it's interesting the possible turnaround:

GM announces major shift towards "green" cars 03/06/2008- [14:23 PM] - AFP
NEW YORK, June 3, 2008 (AFP) - The American automaker General Motors announced on Tuesday a major change in strategy, favoring more fuel-efficient cars, which will result in the gradual closure of four factories specializing in the assembly of SUVs.

I think it has nothing to do with the fact that GM is greener than yesterday but I think it has to do with the current American recession ...

The "green" aspect is to save face ...

GM like all the other manufacturers make cars to sell them, currently in the points of sale there is a slowdown for cars (greedy) not only 4x4
Although the consumer still prefers a V6 to a 4, an automatic to a manual, but they start to look at consumption.

to provide additional information, in the 4x4 segment, Gm lost 46% of PdM in 2007, due to the rise in the price of braid (and again they are not in France). It is for this reason that 4 factories close. Don't kid yourself, if sales had increased by 46% they would have opened others : Cheesy:

Let's say that this economic hazard plays in favor of ecology. It's always good to take. let's not spit on it
