If you have stored data on CD-Rs, the lifespan of those media would be very short (2 to 10 years). Even the INA is worried:

Moué that's what I was always told ... only I found old CDs of more than 10 years and are always readable
2 years must be done on purpose to scratch it or leave it in the sun ...
What is an alternative to archiving? Magnetic tapes?
