75 USD - Liar poker game in Doha

by freddau » 24/04/06, 17:48

This weekend took place in Doha, Qatar. The lying poker game that will be remembered. Las Vegas players will be at their expense because the starting bet for this part is in the thousands of billions.

The 3 players: Rich countries - OPEC - Emerging countries (China and India at the head)

The principle of this game is defined in a single equation: the first who lets go has lost.

If OPEC admits that its reserves are shrinking faster than expected, this will push the other players to leave the table. (basically the other countries will launch vast energy reduction programs and favor new sources of energy). However the other players are aware !!!! So why not make this decision ???? Well, the rich countries by doing so would reduce the tension on oil prices and allow their competitor (emerging countries) to continue to develop at high speed their economy with the bonus of access to inexpensive energy.

This is also why the rich countries are not trying to get out of the "oil" era. They hope to lose a little, but they don't want emerging countries to be the winners.

In this part, the Bush administration released its Joker !!! An attack from Iran !!!! Prices would rise, rich countries and emerging countries would be penalized, OPEC would gain big profits in the short term but the warning would be clear: "You have oil in your game, but if you do not comply with our decisions we can continue to play but the rules will be changed "(we can speak of cheating in this case).

In this part, the rich countries nevertheless propose a new redistribution of cards, the main result of which would be: massive investments to bring prices down. If the emerging countries are neutral in this situation, the OPEC countries hold the following reasoning: we make large investments but in addition the prices fall and the duration of our oil rent decreases !!!!! Out of the question !!!!

Finally on their side the emerging countries offer this to OPEC: continue to deliver to us, we are good customers. Not only do we not want to change the rules of the game but in addition if your regular customers are defective do not worry we will take over !!!

In Doha the game did not come to an end, each player has two peers in his game and each player has raised. Today the bet is $ 75 for a daily consumption of 85 million barrels. Or a daily entry ticket at 6 billion dollars.

In this game, however, I have the feeling that the players are somewhat on the same side, and that it is rather the future of a large part of the world population that is being played. Those around the table will leave satisfied and satisfied.

To paraphrase Gandhi: the earth has enough resources to allow humanity to live, but all the resources of the earth would not be sufficient to satisfy the greed of a single individual.
