Former UMP minister Roselyne Bachelot will sit on the commission on the moralization of public life, chaired by Lionel Jospin, chaired by Lionel Jospin. The head of state, who announced on July 14 that he instructed the former Prime Minister to chair this commission, received Jospin Monday morning for about 45 minutes at the Elysée Palace. "The President of the Republic officially gave me the mission letter which gave birth to this commission on the renovation and ethics of public life", explained Mr. Jospin at his exit. He also announced that the commission would hand over its findings "early in November".
Senior officials and academics
In the process, the Elysée Palace announced in a press release the composition of this gender parity commission where Mr. Jospin and Ms. Bachelot will be the only former political leaders. So will sit senior officials, such as the former cabinet director of Mr. Jospin in Matignon and section president at the Council of State, Olivier Schrameck, the regional prefect Jean-Pierre Duport, Marie-Christine Lepetit, head of the General Inspectorate of Finance.
The commission will also include academics such as Jean-Claude Casanova, president of the National Political Science Foundation, Julie Benetti, professor at the University of Reims, Wanda Mastor (Toulouse I), Ferdinand Melin-Soucramanien (Bordeaux IV), Agnès Roblot-Troizier (University of Evry), Dominique Rousseau and Hélène Ruiz-Fabri (Paris I). Finally, magistrates like Chantal Arens, president of the Paris tribunal de grande instance, Jean-Louis Gallet, adviser to the Court of Cassation, will be part of the commission.
The commission meets on July 25
This will notably focus on the non-cumulation of mandates, the "jurisdictional" status of the Head of State or even the "rules of ethics allowing to ensure a better transparency of public life", explained to the press M. Jospin after his interview at the Elysée. "I will convene this commission from July 25," he announced, stressing: "We will have to work at a fairly sustained pace, the president waiting for us to give him our thoughts at the beginning of November".
