Sustainable and responsible consumption, isn't it buying "Made in France"?
A product that will be manufactured locally following strict environmental standards.
(and which by the way supports a few jobs)
Responsible consumption = Made In France?
What is "made in France"?
The Minister of Industry announced that the government was considering "the establishment of a label made in France, which will inform consumers about products including one significant part of the added value is realized on French territory".
http://www.lepoint.fr/actualites-economie/2010-04-21/industrie-vers-un-label-made-in-france/916/0/446380
Currently it is the most total blur. What is certain is that companies do not hesitate to put a French flag on packaging to attract consumers. But there is no indication of source; in fact the tricolor flag on the notices and the packages apparently means that the mentions are in French.
What to say also brands bought by foreign or multinational companies, who have the product manufactured in another country (for example I saw a cookie with a traditional French name, but made in Poland).
Then when the minister talks about "value"we should ask ourselves questions and have a global approach. Many companies make considerable profits in France, while arranging to pay little or no tax there (including in some cases VAT ...). Conversely, they rely on public subsidies, public contracts, investments in infrastructure, etc.

I believe that the creation of such a label by the states is in violation of European law. Only a private organization (group of companies, consumer association, union) can promote and implement it.
On the other hand, the law is rather vague: a computer assembler can quite easily put "Made in ..." on a bike stuffed with sub-assemblies made in Nimportistan, without being in violation of the law!
It would therefore be up to the certifying-labeling body to publicly specify its standards and how to verify it.
There is nothing to be done: the prices of labor and transport are so cheap elsewhere that it has become impossible to find really "Made in ...", especially since many manufacturers that nobody known in the general public produce sub-assemblies, components or spare parts. I worked in 2008 for a machine manufacturer: when you know that bringing a complete semi-trailer from Turkey costs only 2500 euros, you think twice before manufacturing on site.
The Dutch shrimps are cooked immediately and then shipped to Morocco to be shelled before being shipped back to Holland. Moroccan ladies earn 150 euros net per month.
Most auto parts are manufactured by specialists: Valeo, Bosch, ....
For my part, I would recommend more "Made in Belgium"

Worse: nothing prevents me from registering the brand "Le charcutier de Lyon", from designing a beautiful blue, white and red packaging with a map of France, a profile of Marianne and from producing my sausages elsewhere. I can push the vice until I put the address of my office in France. Only a small oval with a B, D, HU, and workshop number will allow the consumer to navigate.
As long as I do not contravene the controlled appellations.

Re: Responsible consumption = Made In France?
Hello,
All the subjects approaching "better" consumption, local and with a social and environmental impact, particularly close to my heart. I decided to work in this direction by creating a responsible business with mainly French products.
To do this and to best meet the requirements, I created a questionnaire which is below:
https://app.evalandgo.com/s/?id=JTk3biU ... 4lOUElQUY=
If you have two minutes to answer it it will help me a lot and may allow a change in the consumption habits of those who are not necessarily interested.
Thank you very much for reading me so far!
Good day to you
