An anti-rust of thunder with fruits and vegetables

by Rulian » 18/10/07, 15:03

I got an old bike that was rotting outside behind my owner's house. I undertook to dismantle it entirely to restore it to health and, if possible, beauty. Part of the bolts and some small parts being rusty, I found on the web a recipe for rust prevention: LEMON

I tested, it works from the fire of God !!

Half a lemon squeezed in a goblet, my little rusty scrap metal immersed in it, and 4 hours later, more rust.
It seems that it also works for stains on textiles, with a little coarse salt in addition to suck the solution.

It's the same principle as coca: acids eat rust. So it should work with other citrus fruits, or vinegar.

Here it is, my green find of the moment.

PS: the second half of the lemon very advantageously accompanied my aperitif. : Mrgreen: : Mrgreen:

Yes it works, about twenty years ago I was given the following trick to rust, vinegar + salt then we rinse with soapy water.

Antirust is not in my opinion the right terminology, we hear more often not rust a product preventing corrosion.

why not rust remover for example.

More seriously: removing rust is fine (especially with lemons) but preventing her from coming back is better...

Any ideas on this point?

Hello,
Impossible to remove it, but we can stabilize the rust layer by chemically transforming it.
This is the role of commercial rust inhibitors!

Like Christine Bravo, at Ruquier, talked about it quickly last night on TV.
Try with lemon, to remove a rust stain on a garment.
What has not been specified, and on this forum neither is that it is valid only on white linen ...
It is well known, that the lemon makes spots on the colors ... Remember your New Years Eve evenings ...
: Lol:
C. Bravo recalled a solution to banish shoe polish:
On a shoe, in good condition anyway, pressing a little on the shoes, rub the inside of the banana peels.
This revives the colors and nourishes the leather.
