The Gulf Stream is a giant natural heat pump whose thermal power is equivalent to 1 nuclear reactors and the flow 000 times that of all rivers in the world!
He is already showing signs of weakness.
Its decrease will mitigate the impact of global warming in Western Europe before the effect is then reversed (in 200 to 300 years anyway ...): little ice age in Europe then big warming ...
But hey with the very long term weather we are never sure of anything ... but we know that this cycle has already happened!
Gulfstream, the Achilles heel of the climate
The Gulf Stream transports warm water from the tropics to the Norwegian Sea. There, this powerful ocean current plunges towards the abyss to circulate towards the south at the bottom of the Atlantic. However, this plunge into hot water could be stopped if their salinity were to decrease. This is what will happen when the Arctic ice melts, releasing huge amounts of fresh water to the North Atlantic. This catastrophic scenario poses a very real threat because global warming is an inexorable fact. Consequence: a slowdown of the Gulf Stream and a significant cooling of Europe
