Test your ecological footprint ...

by Christophe » 13/04/06, 12:46

... in 3 minutes maximum.

It's this way : http://www.myfootprint.org/
(you have to choose your country and language on the world map it is a little disconcerting at the beginning)

My results :

BY GLOBAL HECTARES CATEGORY

FOOD 1.3

TRANSPORT 0.1

HOUSING 1.2

GOODS AND SERVICES 1

YOUR TOTAL FOOTPRINT 3.6

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 5.3 GLOBAL HECTARES PER PERSON.

THERE ARE 1.8 GLOBAL PRODUCTIVE HECTARES PER PERSON IN THE WORLD.

IF EVERYONE LIVED AS YOU WOULD NEED 2 PLANETS

: Cry: : Cry: : Cry: And this even by making "efforts" as econologist obviously .... We are wrong ...

Welcome to the real world ...

[Ironic fashion]
Fortunately there are poor people on Earth who will never touch a steering wheel of a car ...
[/ Ironic fashion]

Still, I am the least worst of the 3 ... although it is surely because I do not work (almost zero transport journey ...) but we are + better than the 5,3 of the average French ...

To be "average", you have to live together in an ecological house of 60 m2 with energy saving devices, occasionally eat animal products, half of imported food, generate bcp less waste than its neighbors, drive less than 10 km / week by car and never take a plane, travel in "soft traffic" every day ...

Not impossible, but it requires certain efforts.

Yeah but not very realistic in our western world (with this way of life we pass for an extremist ...) or the interest of keeping the poor poor ... :| (ironic mode version realistic)
