Banks facing the climate challenge - Heu? Reka

by thibr » 29/05/21, 12:22

Problem of the episode:
************************************************** ****
How can we regulate banks so that they help us reach the target of + 2 ° C of global warming by the end of the century? We could reform finance from top to bottom ... of course. But how do we do if we want to stay within the "neoliberal" framework that is currently ours? What are the proposals? What are the reservations? Why is the subject moving so slowly? How do banking lobbies defend themselves against any form of regulation?

How would translating quality into quantity not be a total misunderstanding?

Absolutely, quality is subjective, while quantity is stubborn numbers ... (several planets)

However, be careful with the wording: Dede, your message could be interpreted as affirming that the quality is negligible, because subjective, and that the figures alone deserve to be taken into account ...
It is obviously an unacceptable reductionism, since if the current society suffers from a rather unilateral tropism for "performative objectivity", it is the qualitative side which represents (or should represent!) The essence of the human being. ..
It is not, moreover, a question of knowing which of these aspects should dominate, since it is just a question of respective fields.
