I hadn't seen it at the time. So I correct some confusion:
- a mutual insurance company is an organization governed by private law, as well as an association of the 1901 law type (non-profit associations); in law, private does not mean "with the objective of profit"! It's just that it does not belong, by nature, to the sphere of public bodies (roughly "which is the state, its bodies and communities) ...
- American-style social security is (rather was, until Obamat's small advances) an absence of social security; we therefore take out insurance with a private company, just as we insure our car [or we do not insure ourselves and we sell our house when we are treated for a heart attack!]; Ditto for retirement: savings are entrusted to a "pension fund", which must make it grow [hence their requirements in terms of profitability when they take control of a company, to the detriment of staff remuneration; it's really against each other; what they have, we will not have! ...] and we "pump" into it when we are retired ...
- there are therefore no "charges", net salaries comparable to our gross salaries (except that we "pay" after all these insurances, or not, instead of having "mandatory" withdrawals)
- I would have no difficulty in demonstrating that in such a system, it is better to be rich and in good health, than poor and sick ... But that, all those who are against the "charges" forget it ...
To return to the subject, the status of the RSI funds is ...... unclear!
