mining and energy of the moon? helium 3

by Christophe » 21/07/09, 10:44

I think you have noticed: we are talking a lot about the Moon at the moment ...

Yesterday I came across a very interesting report on ARTE (which changed the images we have seen for 1 week) which spoke of a possible mining of the Moon. It's completely realistic and far from Science Ficton.

The most interesting element would be ... Helium 3 which makes it possible to make a nuclear fusion by largely reducing (80% I believe) the emissions of neutrons in the reactor (which is apparently the main current problem of fusion on l H2). Several companies are already on the move ... scheduled for 2020.

It has also been said that we can get water (!!) by heating the lunar dust to more than 800 ° C (hey Remundo you should offer your solar concentrator to NASA !!) ... and that they contained, by mass, 40% of O2!

So if we have water and O2 in quantity, 2 big problems with the establishment of an inhabited base are solved!

I will try to find the documentary.

Here is the documentary in question:

http://www.arte.tv/fr/semaine/244,broad ... =2009.html

It is not available on Arte +7 VOD but there is this one which also evokes the subject: http://plus7.arte.tv/fr/1697660,CmC=2754926.html

Here is another exceptional documentary: http://plus7.arte.tv/fr/1697660,CmC=2754928.html

It's a moon rush montage, between Apollo 11 and Houston, without any "commentary" (which start to get clumsy at times ...)

In short the moon as the general public has never seen it ...

Obviously, the following question arises: after having plundered the Earth, do we tackle ... the "continuation"? Wouldn't better management of our land resources be a smarter solution?

Yes, but on the hidden space, the current tenants watch over the good grain ...

Hello, I am looking to review this program on the exploitation of helium 3 on the moon, I do not remember if it was broadcast on France5 or Arte.

Can we still find it?

Maybe with the title of the documentary I could find it. What was the title if you remember?

Thank you

Good news at last! Hopefully, this is not an empty project (sic!).

A priori, all those likely to be interested in the exploitation of the moon are the most obstinate of the destroyers of our planet and their exile (or at least that of their harmful efforts!) Will bring us a welcome respite!

It is a bit comparable to what happened during the crusades, which saw the most dingy of both camps exterminated. What a relief for those who stayed at home! : Cheesy:

Hello
we are no longer to know if there is wealth or not on the moon (there is ac is on)
who's the moon?
it looks like we are heading towards the same laws as for "the new world":
first come first serve ....

If I understand correctly, the future oil king are the types who bought pieces of the Moon at auction, as was the case years ago. There really, I think it's in the head :| .
We appropriate things that never belonged to us, we already knew that, but there it goes far anyway (literally and figuratively), soon we may be selling a piece of distant galaxy, or a passing asteroid this way :?, to store nuclear waste, or to exploit any wealth.
Poor humanity :| .

Well, I'm going to play a little Troll.

Well, we don't make an omelet without breaking the eggs .......

I would say why not exploit the Moon, or is the problem if it works, of course if it is a headlong rush, it is true that it does not make much sense.

Mining is always a source of problem and ultimately the presence of man too but hey you have to deal with.

And I think doing all of this responsibly is the only solution.
