Amazon, the unknown oil war

by Christophe » 22/06/09, 11:18

About the oil crisis, we talk every day about the Middle East, every month about Africa ... but much more rarely about the oil conflicts in South America and the Amazon in particular (looting of Indian lands, pollution extremely serious ...)

It is a rather unknown conflict of which here is a file and 2 videos:
http://www.rue89.com/2009/06/06/la-cour ... peruvienne
http://www.rue89.com/2009/06/16/au-pero ... es-indiens

Clashes between Amazonian Indians and the armed forces left thirty people dead and many injured Friday, June 5, in northern Peru. The Indians, who blocked the Trans-Amazon road, held the police hostage. The police fired on the demonstrators, even using helicopters, according to some sources.

These clashes are the result of a conflict between the forest Indians and the Alan García government over the exploitation of oil wealth. Huge reserves have been discovered in recent years in the region. A "miracle" according to President García which multiplies initiatives favorable to their exploitation by foreign companies, including Perenco, a Franco-British group. With tragic consequences for hunter-gatherer communities who derive their resources from the forest and waterways.

The Indians grouped together in the Interethnic Association for the Development of the Peruvian Forest, AIDESEP, have mobilized against the destruction and pollution of their living environment and, for several weeks, tension has continued to mount. They have received support from many sectors of the population across the country. Before the events of the past few days, a general mobilization has been scheduled for Thursday, June 11.

well if the indians of amazonia are massacred by mercenaries sent by multinationals and governments in order to appropriate wealth like oil, it is obvious but also super powerful plants patented by pharmaco-industrialists etc. .

everyone knows this is obvious ... if not there is real interesting information?

hey hey hey

So you do your job as a moderator not for econology but for a strictly personal power relationship within your function? but it's not professional at all to fire a person who asks questions and who opens other ways of thinking since you, moderator, you already stress when I could not even express the bottom of my thought that you threatens to fire me when I haven't broken a single rule of forum... very interesting your reactions eh eh eh
