Construction of a water torch

by siera » 07/11/07, 18:50

Hello,

I am building a water torch (experimental stage) but I have a big problem how to do so that the flame of the torch does not go up, in the event of a drop in pressure, I reach the gas tank and boom !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like it happened to me yesterday. : Cry: : Evil:

I was suggested to separate the gases at the base but that poses a lot of worries.

Do you have another solution to be able to weld and for the moment do tests in complete safety?

Sincerely,

There is already a subject about the water torch

https://www.econologie.com/forums/fabricatio ... t3170.html

for your flashback, it's not complicated, you pass your gas through a siphon with water

Water torch

It works

if the gas passes through water

If the reactor is under pressure 1 to 2 bar sufficient

A pressure regulator is essential to regulate the flame.

Hello and thank you for your answers,

sorry for the subject i haven't seen.

As for the siphon of water that is what I had done but the can of gas that it contained made Boom !!!!
And it was already violent.

If you know of a more effective solution I am open.

If a siphon is not enough, you put several ... : Mrgreen:

Maybe the hose is too big, the pressure too strong, or not yet regulated…

Otherwise, there is the “fire break” as on autogenous welding devices.

We were talking about an "arrestor", which must be less effective than a siphon, but can be complementary, to filter and limit the gas flow, and to avoid the overpressure of the return flame.
It is simply a transit tube, stuffed with foam. Jex stamp, Scoch Brite, for dishes.

When I had tinkered a little with the electrolyser, I put at the outlet of the pipe (downstream), the arrestor, and, a siphon in intermediate (upstream).
When the flame rises, if your pipe is held in the arrestor, only with a plug, just pressed slightly, it will jump before the flame front reaches the siphon.
Finally ! That's what I think.

Hello and thank you,

I was just thinking of using firebreaks, but which model can I use?

What type, brand, model ... can you advise me?

Sincerely,
