Recovery centrifuge to filter oil?

by boubka » 23/03/09, 11:22

Hello
I got a small centrifuge (by the size, not by the weight: 50 kg)
it rotates at 5000 rpm and the bowl is pierced with holes of about 5 mm
Do you think I can use it to filter vegetable oil?
holes are an obstacle to use for this application :?:
Thank you for your answers

It is not clear: is there a continuous flow possible or not?

If the answer is no I think that given the capacity of the bowl (low: 1 to 3L I would say?) You will have a lot of work to use this device in oil filtration.

What comes from what area of activity originally?
Exact references of the device?

Ah well the flow continuously! You're lucky to have recovered that!

There is more to do :) Put "coffee paper" in the bowl otherwise it will filter nothing at all. : Cheesy:

200W only? : Shock:

thank you Christophe for the trick of the paper coffee I hope he will stay hook and do not drill.
otherwise I would try with a small 30 micron strainer
I will try in the days to come
to be continued

ps: I confirm power displayed 200 w

It is to be tested: quickly it will be "reinforced" by the dirt : Cheesy:

There are some who are lucky to find Chinese electric scooters too! : roll: And others who are lucky to receive a Chinese scooter gift : Mrgreen:

Hello

The centrifuges for oil works in this principle
a smooth drum with a rim at the top seals dirty and contaminated oil in the center, the dirt remains stuck in the drum water too, the clean oil overflow through the rim at the top it is thrown into the fixed drum and flows.
After a certain amount of oil has passed, stop the machine and clean the rotating drum, the mud that has remained centrifuged
The big industrial machine mud evacuate continuously automatically, but it's complex to realize

To be functional with oil it must be heated to a certain temperature otherwise not effective

200 watts seems small to train the drum

It is neither more nor less than a decantation acceller a lot of G
It is also necessary to look for the good speed of rotation which goes with the type of liquid to be separated

I had started to build one, seeing the difficulties of oil recovery, restaurant the project is on the ice ..

Good evening
today tests of the centrifuge in filtration, I put a fine tissue as a filter and ... it works.
speed 5000 rpm, just do not put too much in one shot otherwise it is difficult ...
this filtration is enough for me for the burner ball, there is no impurity in the seal : Mrgreen:

Hello

A centrifuge for dirty oil
a sealed drum with a rim at the top is required, dirty oil is thrown against the drum gradually, the impurities remain stuck to the drum and the clean oil is evacuated at the top by the rim
60c oil is required for a certain temperature in order for the machine to operate efficiently, an oil that is too cold must be centrifuged too long.
Depending on the size of the centrifuge after a certain time of operation, the drum must be cleaned

Some auto (Simca) if I remember correctly, had a centrifugal filter system with engine oil at the end of the vibrequin.
