Makhonine process, liquefaction of coal

Do you know the work on fuels of Ivan Makhonine?

It consisted of liquefying charcoal (or any other solid carbonated fuel) and getting a synthetic fuel ... It looked a lot like the Fischer-Tropsch process.

Makhonine's variable geometry plane: https://www.econologie.com/makhonine-avi ... -3181.html

Are the pilots of the forums know more than the info in this article about it?
