Inter Brew: the good example comes from the private sector

by the middle » 06/08/08, 10:21

Hello,
Some of you have already seen the report on this French company which transforms its animal fats to be self sufficient in electricity.
There is another example in Belgium in another form (bio-gas and hops) :D
I take this opportunity to launch a new idea, but as usual, it will fall into the water : Cry:
There is the Canne Festival, with its Oscars, why not create the most ecological society's Oscar?
Majority of societies balance from ecology, but not from advertising :!:
Oscar = big free ad, and in the end the earth wins ...
But maybe it already exists?
Attached, the process used by inter brew:

Interbrew produces bioelectricity from the waste water from its Leuven brewery. Project in partnership with Aspiravi.
February 22, 2005 - InBev attaches great importance to socially responsible business management. In addition to the interests of its customers, workers and other external stakeholders, the preservation and protection of the environment is, in his view, a key priority.

At Inbev, responsible environmental policy influences activities and long-term strategic decisions.
The company thus constantly strives to develop new methods promoting sustainable development and aiming to improve performance on a global scale.

As part of its responsible environmental policy, Interbrew Belgium has opted, in collaboration with the company Aspiravi, for the development of the water treatment plant for its brewery in the form of biogas recovery, which allows the production of electricity green from biogas from anaerobic pre-treatment of wastewater. The maximum power is 1.000 kW. The gain is estimated at at least 5.000 MWh per year, or the annual electricity consumption of around 1.500 households.
The brewery of Louvain has also constantly sought in recent years to optimize its consumption of energy and water.

Inter Brew ... Ah if in addition it is to make beer !!
Double good point!

Well your idea of Oscar Ecolo but impossible to organize with our means of individuals. Greenpeace already has some sort of ecological classification on which the idea could be grafted ...
