Mr François Carré has shown and demonstrated that the recoverable power (potentiality) of the wind is proportional to the square of its speed. The energy recoverable by wind turbines cannot therefore behave according to the cube of the wind speed as is commonly accepted.
The results ?
Less power in strong winds you tell me! Yes you would be right! But the essential question is: how long do "current" wind turbines run at their nominal power? (the answer: 15 to 25% of the time ...)
Much more energy would be recovered (over a given period) by multi-blade wind turbines designed for the exploitation of low winds. These wind turbines do not require heavy investment.
The work of Mr Carré is remarkable and yet ignored by wind turbine builders looking for increasingly gigantic projects.
