Pumped energy transfer station

by trufou » 02/04/07, 19:12

hello i'm new to the forum, and as it is interesting, you can perhaps enlighten me on my absurd idea of which I find information only for industrial dimensions:

I have two reservoirs, with a small difference in level: 10 meters for 1000 cubic m with a ladle.

is there any reversible turbine pumping equipment to generate electricity and possibly resell to edf the excess?
please

well yeah, we have 2 or 3 things like that in Belgium, that makes 100 to 300 megawatts,

but where I don't understand you, that's why you want to pump: are you going to have to pay your current?

When EDF or Electrabel do it, it is with the excess night of the nuclear power stations in order to be able to give the peaks.

thank you for your interest quickly, : Wink:
in fact it is necessary that its turbine when the price is expensive (to sell), and that its pump to raise the water when it is at the low price, thus, we always use the same water except the losses,
the principle is called STEP pumping energy transfer station : Shock:
it is commonly applied on a larger scale worldwide
so I am on the idea of making one in an "artisanal" and economical way
you must already know which are the smallest turbine pumps, :?: because I don't find any on my research

Yeah, in short, you want to ** EDF ?! : Shock:

Where's the gain there ?! Except for you ... :frown:

it is true that the intention seems very mercantile but why not after all.

Now, I don't have anything to help you.

Well, you have a production capacity that is not huge enormous.

Are you sure that it is not more interesting to use this energy for you rather than to "trade"?

let me explain

(this is an example, the values are not correct)

you buy 1000 kW at 10 cents that you sell at 20 cents
don't forget that you have losses (90% yield), depreciation and maintenance costs.

you better not use these 1000 kW at 15 cents (average value)?
since your equipment would cost less, etc ...
if your kW is not produced at the right time, the cheapest means of storage is hot water (sanitary and heating)

Hello

Its can be interesting (ecologically speaking and financially); if you go up the water with a wind turbine.

Why not just parallel a turbine to generate current and a ram pump.

You need power, you run the generator.
You do not need it, you go up a part with the minimum of econological cost ...
