Turbine multiblade walking slow VS wind power walking

by Ahotep » 10/10/06, 15:37

Hello everybody

Being currently working on a multi-blade wind turbine project (20 more exactly), I would like two small opinions and / or information ...

- first of all, what are the main characteristics of a slow running wind turbine which means that we are going to prefer it to a twin or three blades? What I know is that a multi-blade has a high starting torque ... Who can tell me more?

- the second question follows from the first: what are the performances which one will be able to draw from such a propeller:
* 20 blades
* r = 1.3 m
* blade length = 0.65m
* height = 4 m
In terms of performance, I want to talk about peripheral speed ratio, power coefficient (therefore recoverable power, after obviously Betz).

Having already informed myself, but preferring various opinions, this is what I was told: a peripheral speed coefficient of 0.5 and a yield of 20% of the Betz limit.

What do you think?

Thank you for helping me
