Nacelle at 260 m, rotor diameter of 214 m !! Max height: 367 m! It is 50 m more than the Eiffel Tower! Welcome to the world of giant wind turbines!

With its capacity of 14 MW and a capacity factor of 64%, the Haliade-X is the latest from the American manufacturer, which plans to install it in the United Kingdom and at two other offshore sites in the United States. .

In November 2020, she broke a record of 312 MWh produced in a single day, which means a single rotation can power a UK household for two days! Or 8,3 seconds of operation for the electricity consumption of a 50 square meter house in France.

These machines, intended to be installed at sea, where the winds are the most powerful, have little to do with the first generations of offshore wind turbines in the 1990s, whose capacities did not exceed a few hundred kilowatts.

This record seems to have been beaten, with 359MWh in 24 hours, by a Siemens Gamesa machine.

There is a small video, each time it impresses me to see these machines.

There are the records, then the daily life...

But it's moving forward, not fast enough, but it's moving forward.

The whole thing is that it remains at a reasonable price.

Within reason ? What is it, actually?

In price, I don't mean just the financial cost.

But, how to put prices on something?

The pb is there, because it is subjective.

I don't understand what you're saying, but that's okay...

The purpose was just to point out that machines of 14MW or more are becoming almost a standard, after GE and Siemens Gamesa I imagine Vestas must not be far away, I don't know for the Chinese.

impressive

rather good news

but to install such giants, you need a lot of gear!
