This is the whole problem of this society which reacts more on the emotional than on the facts ... and leads the other European countries in the same slippery slope, direct in the wall. The Belgians are in the same poo.

Hopefully, after them, France will review its EPP, Macron had promised https://www.sauvonsleclimat.org/fr/base ... matologues
In his letter, the President confirmed his determination to fight global warming and the importance of nuclear power to guarantee the lowest possible level of greenhouse gas emissions. This determination will undoubtedly play an essential role so that the PPE puts the fight against global warming at the forefront of its objectives rather than in the development of intermittent renewable electricity production of which the Court of Auditors recently demonstrated the ineffectiveness for the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Sauvons Le Climat salutes the political courage of the President, whose pragmatic and reasonable approach goes against those who have chosen to fight nuclear rather than global warming.

I don't say more, but I don't think less ...
better not!

And this annex article:
In Cherbourg, the anti-nuclear forces celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. If they took place, the moments of meditation in memory of the victims were very discreet since the media did not report them. There, as in many press articles or radio and television broadcasts, the escalation in the number of victims flourishes. How far will we go in this macabre competition? When will we get tired of using victims for purely ideological purposes? When will we stop rejoicing to see the announced number of victims grow in order to better use them? And when will we stop demonizing radioactivity even at very low doses, spreading fear and diverting populations from the so beneficial applications of radioactivity in the medical and energy fields? "Save the Climate" chooses the camp of those who care for and have cared for the victims, especially children with thyroid cancer, the camp of those who seek to explain and answer the legitimate questions of our fellow citizens, rather than that of their hateful and defamous detractors.
https://www.sauvonsleclimat.org/fr/base ... -le-climat

In fact "let's save the climate" is only a screen of the nuclear industry, nothing more, the climate being only a pretext like a girl of small virtue wanting to pretend to be a virgin.
And this one that does not lack nerve, unless they have Elsheimer?
"Save the Climate" chooses the camp of those caring for and caring for the victims, especially children with thyroid cancer, the camp of those who seek to explain and answer the legitimate questions of our fellow citizens, rather than that of their hateful and defamatory detractors.
Ouarf, ouarf, ouarf! Feelings among the nuks? First news! And where were they when the victims needed care?

Nuke or anti-nuke that is the question! : Lol:

I think it is really time to move beyond ideological divides.
The question is therefore not to be pro or anti-nuclear, oil, gas, coal, wood, but to define what resources can be exploited in a given ecological, economic and geostrategic context.
Whatever the procrastination of each other very few people are able to part with their stove, fridge and other washing machines. It is therefore necessary at least a source of supply, and it is clear that in the France of 2019 separation from the atom is not possible in the short term, especially on the eve of a major oil depletion.

It is not possible but envisaged, in defiance of the Paris agreements ... Ok it was not the same political party at the controls, but we forget future generations by neglecting CO2, it is indeed not simple.
Wind turbines do not solve anything at all, because in addition to their upkeep, maintenance requires exorbitant costs. Janco said it recently, when it comes to energy, nothing beats centralization.

The argument that we keep the atom for climatic reasons does not hold. C02 emissions from France are insignificant on a global scale (1% of the total), in the same way as world production of nuclear energy which is just as anecdotal (5% of the global energy balance).
It is therefore not with fission power plants that we will stem global warming, moreover no serious scenarios are envisaged in this way ...
Maintaining electro-nuclear production in our country is above all a matter of logic, we have very few fossil resources, our hydraulic potential is widely exploited, and the wind and solar couple are not efficient enough , therefore remains the atom.
The argument of ecological consideration is just a means of reassurance.

Janco said it recently, when it comes to energy, nothing beats centralization.

It is just in the case of a highly industrialized society, much less for others, still a matter of statistical mechanics (r / K)!

... we have very few fossil resources ...

But, not much more uranium ...

"It's just in the case of a highly industrialized society ...": very apt remark, centralization affects overall resilience. Moreover, the atomic solution is a trap in the event of societal collapse: it will not be enough to post "the last out is asked to close the door".

Let's say that the availability of the Uranium resource is somewhat easier and less subject to a price explosion (sic!) Than oil.

Moreover, the atomic solution is a trap in the event of societal collapse: it will not be enough to post "the last out is asked to close the door".

If provided that you add:after closing the door, run very fast! : Lol:

You forget that in France, waste is reprocessed.
The REPs exploiting only 0.7% of the energy of uranium, the EPRs are capable of operating only with MOX and plutonium, while waiting for the generation of the breeder units, we have what it takes to come in a secure manner, n ' whether to go out nuclear or greenpeace ... I don't put capital letters, because they're not worthy of it.

We really didn't need wind turbines that cost an arm to maintain, as Janco rightly points out. : Wink:
