Wind turbine

by Metal fury » 23/04/12, 12:08

Hello everyone !

I've been thinking about it for a while and I just bought my house so it's time!
I don't know much about electricity, but I'm good at DIY (I'm companions ..).

I would like to make a wind turbine and use it to power the house a little. Not everything, of course, but a few devices.
I have scanned a lot of the subjects of this forum and others but I admit that I'm losing the thread a little!
What does it really take? wind turbine, inverter, 24/230 V converter.
What could be the right config ?!

I know absolutely nothing about it but I know how to build so here it is!

Thank you in advance to all for your precious advice!

you can orient yourself on the self-construction of a Piggott wind turbine, it is an islander who distributes his simple and apparently effective concept everywhere.

The configuration is:

wind turbine / solar panels -> charge controller -> batteries -> inverter

If your house is surrounded by trees rather invested in photovoltaics

Excellent the Piggott model! Thank you very much ! I am not good at English but I will manage to manage! thank you !

No no I'm from Lille!
I have wind almost all the time where I am. Even if it is not to run a plutonium plant it is constant and I really want to learn and use it!

I build my house by myself so I have some basics but I admit that electronics I row!

Thank you ; )

There is an association in France which distributes the plans and which does construction internships.

Yes I saw that ! it must be very interesting !!
The concern for me is the time! at the same time I build my house and at the same time I work 2 jobs!
I would only have the weekend to make a nice wind turbine!

Bonjour,

the name of the association is tripalium;).

for 'history they are FORBES type generators and M Piggot did "only" take up the concept and popularize it, he made a lot of tests before arriving to obtain a model that runs and produced with mainly material recovery .

In short Hugh of his little name made a good job, he left now on generator based on truck brake drum;), therefore radial generator and more axial ...

On the yahoo small wind group Jay, the founder of Tyeole tripalium, actively participates and answers questions ...

The first piece of advice I would give you is to be sure that you have an open space with no obstacle less than 50 m away (it is better not to have wind turbulence).

Then it's to order the magnets directly in China :)

again then it is to split you from the purchase of a manual in French from tripalium;)

finally to read and reread and there you will already have a good package of answers ...

on the other hand as said before, electronics are required at the generator outlet, and depending on the case chosen network injection (edf does not like :) self-build, and do not buy production so it is better to heat water for example), or recharge batteries ...

Effectively.
In network injection, too much is a gift for EDF.
But before producing more than the consumption. There's a big gap to cross.
Consumption has no limits.
Producing 1kwh with a 3kwh package allows for example to draw 4kwh

Thank you friends for your precious advice! That I will follow more well !!
Purchase the bible and especially decorticating the bible!
I would just like to inject into a network that would be great! after good that I get there or not in the end I don't care, I do that because I like to tinker and test new stuff!
So thank you for your advice!

you plug in, you do not ask for a contract and that reduces the bill by the same amount! : Mrgreen:
